Dear all,

Despite the high level of uncertainty concerning future travels that we are all facing and the most possible need for last minute adjustments in any plans that are made at this moment, the enetCollect Core Group would like to encourage you to think ahead for (possible) conference opportunities. Thus, this is the fourth call for ITC Conference Grants for the Grant Period 4, which, after being extended, is running until 06/09/2021.

Given the available budget, we foresee to fund 3 to 5 grants for GP4. The grants will be assigned in response to calls based on the scientific quality and relevance of the applications and until the budget is exceeded. Applications can be accepted for a given call or be rejected for the given call with invitation to resubmit in the next call. Since GP4 got extended, there will be one more call (deadline 15/06) in addition to this present one.

ITC Conference Grants are aimed at supporting ECI (Early Career Investigator) and PhD students from participating Inclusiveness Target Countries (ITC) to attend international science and technology related conferences on the topic of the Action that are not organised by the COST Action. For more information see Section 9 of the  Vademecum (https://www.cost.eu/vademecum).

To be eligible for ITC conference grants, applicants have to:

  • have their primary affiliation in an ITC participating in the Action (see list below*),
  • be a PhD student or an ECI (Early Career Investigator, an individual who obtained within a time span of up to 8 years from the date their PhD/doctorate),
  • make an oral/poster presentation (related to enetCollect) at the conference in question and must be listed in the official event/conference program.

If you intend to apply for an ITC Conference Grant during GP4, please consult the related section in the Vademecum and submit your proposal by sending a short text to the ITC Conference Grant coordinator (tanara...@outlook.com) AND filling out the online form at https://e-services.cost.eu/. Deadline for applications is 15 March 2021. The results will be sent out to applicants by 29 March 2021.

Please be aware of the following information regarding your application.

Your short text must contain:

1. Name of the applicant

2. Status: ECI or PhD student

3. ITC country and affiliation

4. The title of the presentation and a short description of few sentences of its content

5. Conference (name, location)

6. Conference dates

7. Status of the submission (submitted or accepted)

7. Preliminary estimation of the amount of the ITC grant.

At https://e-services.cost.eu/, there is a specific category for ITC Conference Grant application. The applicant submits an ITC Conference Grant application by logging into e-COST and clicking on the ITC Conference Grants tab. The tab ‘ITC Conference Grants’ will not be available in the following cases: if the applicant’s e-COST profile is incomplete, they will first have to fill in the missing information (affiliation, education details, CV);  if the primary affiliation of the applicant is not in an ITC country; if the Education details of the applicant do not demonstrate that (s)he is a PhD student or an ECI .

The evaluation of each received Conference Grant application is performed by the Action’s Core Group. The following aspects should be considered for evaluating the relevance of an ITC Conference Grant proposal:

The scientific scope of the proposed participation and how it will support the Action in achieving its scientific objectives.

The balancing of ITC Conference Grants to objectives of specific WG and OED coordinations in view of maintaining an equilibrium between the number of ITC Conference Grants financed to contribute to each WG/OED (e.g. if one WG has not appointed any ITC Conference Grant yet, it could be given precedence).

The enforcement of COST Policy and Rules with respect to promoting gender balance, enabling Early Career Investigators (ECI) and broadening geographical inclusiveness.

Preference should be given to people who did not benefit from grants before.

Third call for ITC Conference Grants: 15 February 2021

Deadline for application: 15 March 2021

Results: by 29 March 2021.

Looking forward to receiving your applications,

Best

Verena, Lionel and Tanara
