Black Edit

Howdo I disable this maddening black box that appears whenever I try to edit one of my own documents? This is not the standard tool bar that can be docked. It's something entirely new. In the image below, all I'm trying to do is move the text box down so that it isn't overlapping the dollar amount. I can click on the box, the borders become highlighted as usual, but I cannot drag the box anywhere.

It's madness. Do they even test these things? I go to view a pdf and that black bar covers up the pdf!! WHY IS THERE NO WAY TO CLOSE IT??? I'm supposed to wait 10 seconds? Then if I move my mouse it shows up again. Completely horrible UI.

Again, while the colors were fine, I felt that they distracted from the furrow of her brows and the pained anticipation of pulling the tooth out. By converting this to black and white, those details are at the forefront of the frame.

I love how photographer Vironica Golden captures her boys and their connections. In this photo, those connections are amplified by her conversion to black and white. Without the potential distraction of color, the viewer can immediately see the love and playfulness they share.

Often times I choose to convert to black and white solely because the colors in the image are kind of distracting. Colorful background elements may distract from the intended subject. And while my kids think that neon clothes are awesome, they are not quite so in photos (and those neon color casts! Ugh!).

In this example I wanted to guide the viewer to the bubble blowing contest by eliminating all the crazy colored play clothes they were wearing. With a black and white conversion, the potential for someone to look at the rainbow of clothing first is eliminated. Instead, the viewer goes straight to their faces where they can see the intensity of the bubble contest unfolding.

While images in beautiful light are gorgeous in color, they can be particularly amazing in black and white. Often times I convert to black and white to really showcase the light and how it falls on my subjects.

Sometimes converting to black and white can make an otherwise boring photo very dramatic. We often associate colors with emotion. However, if the color is in conflict with the drama of a scene, I find converting to black and white quite helpful.

I love to do this when I have a lot of negative space, so that my subject really stands out in the frame. In this underwater image, the blue of the pool made everything feel just a bit too light and airy. By converting to black and white, it is as though she is diving into an unknown abyss, adding drama to the scene.

Sometimes I want to show a collection of images taken on different days, times of day, and locations, but I still want the images to be unified. Converting to black and white can really pull a collection of different images together.

In my opinion, it does not. The dynamic range of tones falls too much into the midtones. When I choose to convert to a black and white,I want it to have a range of tones from blackest blacks to lightest whites and a whole range of varying midtones in between. Even if the image meets any of the reasons for converting in this article, it will not convert well to black and white if there is not a good range of tones.

At times you can use editing to push the contrast of the image. Some of my favorite Lightroom methods for doing this are using the clarity slider in Lightroom or adjusting the individual color channels in Lightroom to make parts of the image darker or lighter. I also love to add more contrast in Photoshop with curves layers.

The avocado dip, tomato salsa and black bean filling can all be made in advance and refrigerated separately for up to 2 days. The black bean filling can also be frozen for up to 2 months. Thaw completely in the fridge overnight before reheating for best results.

I'll share with you how I change an image to black and white in Lightroom, tweak it just the way I want it, and then I'll share with you my FAVORITE black and white Pretty Presets that do the job in just one click!

First, before I even begin, I create a snapshot of any previous edits I have done OR create a new virtual copy of the image that I want to turn black and white. Creating a virtual copy doesn't actually COPY the photo on your hard drive. It just tells Lightroom that you have more than one set of edits that you want to apply to this photo.

I generally start by going to the Tone Curve panel and clicking on the words "Medium Contrast" at the bottom of the panel. I change this to medium contrast or strong contrast and see if I like the change. Sometimes this is perfect and I stop here!

If that doesn't work or maybe I need even more contrast, then I select the Targeted Adjustment Tool. Once I have it selected, I click and drag on areas of my photo that I want either lighter or darker. To lighten the area, I click and drag upwards. To darken the area, I click and drag downwards.

Sometimes I don't get the results that I want from using the Tone Curve Panel. That is when I try the HSL/Color/B&W Panel. Click on the B&W section. This panel has a Targeted Adjustment Tool just like the Tone Curve Panel and it works in much the same way. This panel uses the color information that was originally part of the photo. Lightroom keeps that information "under" the black and white that is now there.

Click on the Targeted Adjustment Tool and then click on an area of your photo that you want to be darker - click and drag downward to see the changes. Or click and drag upward on an area of your photo that you want to make lighter.

The color sliders will move as you do this. Keep in mind that it is using the color information under your B&W photo, so if you try to lighten your skin tones (oranges and reds) other parts of your photo that fall in those same color shades will lighten as well. The same goes with other colors and areas that you try to darken.

It's a commonly held belief that black dogs are harder to photograph. So much so, that black dogs are always the last to be adopted from shelters. The truth is it's not really that tricky if you are working in good light and put a little bit of effort into the editing.

2022 to any Datatype (Avi,wmv, mpeg-4, etc...) the Video blacks out at one certain point, but the audio continous. When I try to put another random video after that point, the export is perfect. Whats wrong with those files? They are all .mov files, filmed with an iPhone.

@Laurenz-Ploenes Hmm, I can't immediately see anything wrong, is there anything different about IMG5401 or has it got any effects, stretching etc.. & you've changed the settings in the Export, does it still fail if you export at the default MPEG-4 1920x1080,

One other thing, can you go to your icon at the top, click it - My Profile, & fill in your Signature with your Magix version, Windows version & system specs, CPU, GPU, RAM etc. this will then show at the bottom of the comments & will help, thanks ?

@Laurenz-Ploenes There's a free tool called Media, , after download, right click on the file in your windows folder, select Text from the View tab, Select all & copy to a new comment, you could use this to compare with other files to see if it's any difference,
