The Fisher & Paykel refrigerator seems to be part of the RF522B family, which are listed in the old CSV files, and rate 3 stars and 472 kWh (you can check the label). The last characters in the model number probably refer to the surface finish and/or side the hinge is on, so are irrelevant to the energy performance.

 

In any case, F&P do not make any products that do not comply with MEPS, so the model is OK.     

 

I will check the Daikin models and get back to you early next week.

 

As Makereta has informed you, Maxton is a house brand that is used by Brijlal in Fiji, but not Australia. As Fiji does not (yet) regulate air conditioners they will not have registered it there. I will contact Brijlal to ask who manufactures the Maxton air conditioner, and whether the same models are registered (under different brands) in Australia. This is an issue that is likely to arise in other Pacific countries as well.

Could you please check with your importer whether the Maxton models came from Brijlal in Fiji? While Brijlal do sell Maxton branded air conditioners, none of the models you have listed are on their website at present. 

 

I do not want to trouble them unless I am sure they are the source,

As you wil have seen from my email to Brijlal and their reply, they claim that they were not aware of the Tuvalu legislation and were not informed by the importer. As they admit that the Maxton products do not comply with AS/NZS 3823, there is no point trying to track down the ultimate manufacturer.

 

I'm not sure whether the importer in Tuvalu placed the order before the MEPS legislation was made public, but as there was some ambiguity in dates and notice periods, I would suggest the best course of action would be to permit the products to be sold in this case, but inform importers that future imports will be subject to MEPS.

 

Brijlal is now aware of this, so they have no excuse next time.
