Google Posts Comments on Smart Grid Policy to the California Public Utility Commission

Today, Google submitted comments to the California Public Utility
Commission sharing our perspective that everyone should have access to
their energy consumption information in near real-time and suggesting
a few ideas for how the Commission could encourage the availability of
this information.

Our key points include:

- Consumers should have direct access in real-time to their own
electricity usage and pricing information.
- Access to usage and pricing information should be available at no
direct cost to the consumer.
- The data should be made available in a standardized, open format,
freely available to third parties with permission from the consumer.
