An Important Update on NECS

Hello all,

This email contains a very important update on NECS, and I would humbly beseech you to read it and reply. Even if you are no longer interested ni NECS, please still reply and you will be taken off future mailing lists.

NECS has developed for close to year now, but its rate of progress, in my opinion, could be substantially improved.  I believe that in order to establish NECS in a timely and efficient manner, or even at all, we will need to increase participation significantly.

To do so, I think we need 2 things:

   1. Have a certain group where everyone is willing to participate.
   2. Set forth responsibilities for willing members.

On the basis of #1, everyone please reply ASAP, whether you are still interested in NECS or not. The purpose of this is for us to get a general idea of the numbers and to reduce mailbox spam :)

For #2, I realize that not everyone who's interested in NECS can contribute content. Whoever does wish to contribute content, however, has the option of volunteering in two capacities

   1. Contributing as they see fit. Basically, whenever you want to you contribute.
   2. Becoming part of an "administrator" group and contributing as the group sees fit (you will be part of the group too). The idea is that the entire group will be closely and constantly working on NECS, estimated 3hours/week/person.

None of these groups are meant to be exclusive and can be joined at almost any time. Once one has joined the administrator group, however, one is expected to devote the time and to not drop out unless matters truly interfere (it's a serious responsibility).

In summary, please reply to this email, stating whether you are still interested in NECS and how you would like to contribute.

I will be continuing my involvement in NECS as many of you know, and Anita, Birce, Gouthami, and Sanat have expressed their interest as well in our recent conversations.  If any of you are participating in an energy initiative next year at your high school or university, definitely consider assuming a more active role in NECS. 

Those who are trying to reach Keystone or other organizations for sponsorship purposes, keep up your efforts but please be aware that we might have greater success on that task if we have completed a website by the time we seek support.  All immediate-term work shall relate to website content and development.
