I have uploaded the MIT study announced today concerning fuel
consumption and carbon intensity of the US vehicle fleet by 2035. A
notable finding is that sole reliance on incremental adoption of new
power-train technology will produce a limited reduction in fuel
consumption; all technically feasible improvements in efficiency will
be necessary to bring bring fuel consumption in 2035 down to 2000
levels (one-third lower relative to business-as-usual).
