This is a draft of the
publicity plan that we should follow. Go through it once and put in your
suggestions. I'll bring a copy in the meeting. We will discuss it there.
I have also put in tentative dates that we
should aim to follow.
Publicity plan for TIFAC
TOOLS that we have for publicity
· Database that we have created by compiling contacts from HELIOS, ICAER and TECHFEST database.
· Mails from TIFAC.
· Mails from RANGAN Sir’s office.
· Mails from Department office or Santanu Sir.
· Personal contacts Database.
· College groups and online forums.
· Informal associations with groups which support these kinds of initiatives like Coolage and Novafest.
· Promotional video.
· Press Release.
· Competitions
· Surveys. Or Facebook app
· Social experiment game.- devendra pareek….
Order to follow:
· Launching the pilot website inside.- Informal sessions and asking the batchmates.
· Press release at this time from personal contacts.
· After this we will start targeting specific forums and college groups, also the informal association with knowafest and coolage can be done at this point although it seems highly unlikely to me as we don’t have anything to offer to them.
· To get started, we will start with facebook. But to get our good visibility in news feed it needs to be shared by a critical mass first. For that we need to publicize it in IITB first. As soon as we put up posters in IITB. We will start online sharing of our promotional video. A post with a video or picture gets seen more. We need to make sure that a lot of people share this. At least all the energy students share. I’ll ask all my batch mates to share this. Similarly other batches should do. Ask whoever you can to get it shared. Simultaneously I’ll create an add about our initiative on facebook. Additional to this, facebook allows a limit of 5000 email contacts and you can invite your friends to the initiative also. We will make other people admin also so that you can invite your friends and email contacts.
But before we can do this, we need to make sure that we have some material posted on all the groups. We need to start some discussions on them. At least we all should join the discussion forum and also post at least your vision on each group. Date: Saturday 28th July
· Next we will use the list compiled by using personal contacts. What we need to do is just buzz our friends and ask them to share our post in college Facebook group and if possible send a mail about it on their college Google group. Date: Wednesday 1st Aug
· Next step is mass mailing. We will draft a sample mail to invite people to our initiative’s page on facebook and then you can mail all your contacts. We will ask Rangan sir to send a mail from his office to college contacts and also we mail on ICAER database and get a mail sent via dept office and if possible via TIFAC also. We will also send mails to contacts from personal mailing list. For that what we can do is export all our contacts to an excel sheet and then copy and paste it send mails. Ask the professors also to send the mail. Intern people should send mails.Date: Sunday 29th July
· Simultaneously we have to start our publicity on twitter also. It could be a very good option to have vision related small sentenced discussion on it. But the problem is that getting visibility in twitter is much more difficult than facebook. To get a critical mass there, we have to first follow a large number of people and energy related groups there. And secondly we will need to keep posting at regular interval of time. But once we achieve a good amount followers there, our tweets will start coming in the search more often and higher up the order. For regular posting a buffer app can be used which costs around Rs 1000. But benefits of this are that we can get genuinely interested people on twitter. Date: Sunday July 5th
· After doing this, we will start calling from the database of ICAER, HELIOS and TECHFEST and ask them to become our AMBASSADOR in their college. We will put an additional incentive that if 100 people join our discussion from their college, they will get a certificate of appreciation. They will do all the necessary duties like putting up posters, sharing our updates, do the mailing on their college groups and others. This I suppose is going to provide a huge jump in the viewership of our website as we will also be putting up posters after this. Date: Friday 10th Aug
· Simultaneously we will ask Rangan Sir for a press release and additionally we will also start contacting journalists on our own for media publicity. Date: Aug 1st week
· Next step will be to launch our first competition. This I feel is going to provide a second peak in our publicity campaign. We will launch an article writing competition in which after collecting the entries we will shortlist 20-30 best articles and share them on our facebook page. The most liked and searched article will get the prize. This will increase our reach by leaps and bound. Date: Wednesday 15th Aug
· Conducting surveys could be a great idea to capture statistics for our report. We can get a facebook app made to conduct these surveys. Date: September 1st week
· A game on facebook will also be a very good way to capture audience and data including trends that most people share. But this could be cost intensive. A game like http://www.totalgeniuscampus.com/index.php but a simpler version to get trends can be made.
