Just copying in TFR energy group people to the work that David Jonas has
done on the proposed Low Carbon Community Challenge application.

this sounds like a good step forward.

BTW - I sent the email to give notice that we intend to apply but have
had no acknowledgement so far.

We are like tenant farmers chopping down the fence around our house
for fuel when we should be using Natures inexhaustible sources of
energy — sun, wind and tide. ... I'd put my money on the sun and solar
energy. What a source of power! I hope we don't have to wait until oil
and coal run out before we tackle that.

Thanks for digging that out Alan; have you any idea what the carbon scores etc mean?  I always like to see units to describe things.

I now agree with David's comment about Cavity WI being better money and higher energy saving than Loft, having checked. but they are both low hanging fruit and hence the first simple things to do [after the LE lights]. Next and perhaps more interesting and innovative in a TFR context might be heating controls and thermal stores.

Mark Rimington is looking forward to seeing us on 3 November.  He really has gone out and made radical life changes (solar, solid fuel boiler)  - some have worked better than others -so he is not just an inspiration but also a mine of experience.  He is enthusiastic to share his ideas, it would be really lovely if we could join him.
Expected in Chelwood Gate at about 8.oo so lets meet up in the village and share transport.
Who can make it?
Anna

Hope you have a good trip. The other one that you might find interesting (as it has a large water storage component) is at the house that is part of Tablehurst Farm, just beyond the water works.  It is also solid fuel but they have a huge water store which I don’t think Mark uses in the same way.  I’m sure Peter Brown would arrange for you to see it if people are interested.  Also of course Hoathly hill boiler if you haven’t seen it – though that is not on an individual domestic scale.

Best wishes

Rowena

It appears that the LCCC project is in very good hands.  I think that a number of us have signed up to support as and when we can be useful.
David has outlined the need for baseline data on FR housing stock and fuel consumption. I know that Hugh and a number of the energy group had started to research figures that are available from service providers, would this be useful and who has that info?

Best wishes, Anna

Hi Anna

We have accessed the Energy Savings Trust database on baseline energy efficiency measures in Forest Row but would welcome receipt of any further data/info energy group members may hold as it is quite limited in its scope.

We also plan to carry out a rapid attitudinal survey of a sample of residents in the next week or so.

Best

Alan
