Hi NILM research experts! I am the director of the data group for Pecan Street, a non-profit research and development organization in Austin, Texas. We currently maintain and publish Dataport (dataport.cloud) - a collection of circuit-level ground truth energy data for 500+ homes.
This year we are launching our second university study research competition. The competition seeks original research papers that utilize Pecan Street Inc. data to address a question of importance to industry in the shift towards a more sustainable planet. Through the generous support of the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, the winning papers will be awarded $5000 for first place, $2500 for second place, and $1250 for each of two semi-finalists. Additionally, Pecan Street will fly the four winners to its conference in Austin, Texas in March 2018 where the students will present their research to the country’s leading academicians and companies. Papers can be co-authored by a faculty member of the university; but, the student must be the lead author.
Pecan Street and its Data Advisory Board members and industry partners have developed a list of suggested topics (which can be accessed at
http://www.pecanstreet.org/studentresearch) to assist in crafting high-impact research that will make a significant contribution to accelerating adoption of clean and distributed energy resources as well as a deeper understanding of opportunities to leverage the energy-water nexus for optimized resource management.
Pecan Street will host a webinar at 10am CDT on August 24, 2017 to answer questions regarding the research competition and give a brief overview of Dataport. Submissions should be emailed to
in...@pecanstreet.org and are due by January 30, 2018.
Thanks,
Grant
