How can I connect wireless network adapter to VMWare workstation ?(My Host OS is Windows 7 Ultimate, my Guest OS is Fedora 13 & my VMWare version is 6.5.0)I'm running Windows 7 on my Dell Vostro A860 laptop & my wireless network adapter is Atheros.
I think the only way to get a wireless NIC dedicated to the VM would be using a USB wireless NIC as a USB-passthrough device on the VM. When you have Workstation running and a USB device plugged in, it should give you an option to change whether that device is connected to the host or to the VM.
Use a Linux Live cd/usb and boot an that to be able to directly connect to your wifi hardware or use linux as the main OS with direct access to the wifi card and then use windows as a guest os, I know that this maybe not the ideal way but it will work.
Since there is only one WiFi hardware on the computer its not possible to connect one WiFi hardware to multiple WiFi networks, if you want to that I think you have to map WiFi hardware to guest OS and how host you'll have to use some other hardware (may be Ethernet) but I'm sure that it will work in that way as no VM software allow us to allocate Hardware to Guest except for USB, you can also get USB WiFI and allocate that to VM only.
How can I connect my Android emulator to the internet, e.g. to use the browser? I've found lots of advice on what do to when your connected through a proxy, but that's not the case here, my machine (Windows 7) is directly connected to the router.
I think some of the answers may have addressed this, however obliquely, but here's what worked for me.
Assuming your problem is occurring when you're on a wireless network and you have a LAN card installed, the issue is that the emulator tries to obtain its DNS settings from that LAN card. Not a problem when you're connected via that LAN, but utterly useless if you're on a wireless connection. I noticed this when I was on my laptop.
So, how to fix? Simple: Disable your LAN card. Really. Just go to your Network connections, find your LAN card, right click it and choose disable. Now try your emulator. If you're like me, it suddenly ... works!
For some reasons, I wasn't able to access internet through my AVD at work (probably proxy or network configuration issues).What did the trick for me was to launch in command line my AVD and giving manually the Google public DNS 8.8.8.8.
There are different solutions to this problem . One of these , i will show you on my experiment and outcomes seen on results using a recent android studio and AVD images downloaded 2017.
After reading this I decided to look at my "NICs". I put this in quotes because like many I am running virtual nics for devices like Hamachi and Virtual Box. After I disabled Hamachi I am able to use the internet. My guess is that the emulator picks the first available nic regardless of whether it is virtual. Now to find out if I can rearrange my nic order without tearing my box down.
I solved it my disabling all network connections except the wifi connection I was using, then setting the properties on that one remaining enabled connection to have statically assigned DNS addresses. (no DHCP) This was on Win7 64bit
I have a Windows XP machine with WIFI connection and no proxy. I have Norton Internet Security running on my machine which has a Smart Firewall. This Smart Firewall manages programs' access to network, including emulator.exe. I went into Settings -> Program Control and then granted full access to emulator.exe. After this I started Android Emulator and bang... I could connect to internet.
I had a similar problem on Win7 64 bit. Tried disabling my hamachi and virtualbox adapters and didn't work. Tried starting avd as admin and didn't work. In the end I disabled the teredo tunneling adapter using the info on this site and it worked: -to-disable-tcpipv6-teredo-tunneling-in-vista/
it appears there might be a few reasons why there might be no internet connection for an emulator, in my case i was working from home where i have a wireless connection then came into the office and plugged in direct, however although my wireless connection was disconnected it was not disabled resulting in no emulator connection. my understanding is that when it starts up it looks for a network adapter and if there is any conflict here it might result in no internet connection. to resolve go to Start > Settings > Network Connections right click on Wireless Network Connection (if you are not using wireless) and select disable
I always had this "No DNS servers found" error when starting the emulator and did a lot of research on google to no avail. Anyway, I found a post somewhere (can't find it anymore) that was saying that the number of NICs, number of DNS entries could affect the emulator. Also, knowing that the emulator uses a Windows API function (GetNetworkParams()) to resolve DNS entries, I couldn't rely on the %WINDOWS%\System32\Hosts file.
However, I did went in the NICs properties (on Windows 7) to find that I was specifying a static IP, but no DNS entries. So, I got the DNS entries from my router and plugged them in the NICs property. I restarted the emulator and it is now using the correct DNS entries!
I thought I experienced issues with connecting my emulator to the internet but it turned out to be problems with the code I was using. I know its obvious but in the first instance try the browser on the emulator to confirm you have no internet access. I would have saved an hour if I had done that first.
My wifi driver (Intel(R) Wi-Fi 6 AX201 160 MHz) has completely ceased to function. I've tried running the Driver Assistant tool multiple times, and installing the newest version of the driver has not helped at all.
I'm not very technologically inclined and I'm having a really hard time understanding what to fix here.
What mean for you "manully shutdown", "manually restart" - I usually go at Windows icon then Power -> Restart/Shutdown.
Maybe you can check my components at my profile, I install "Intel Driver & Support Assistant". I am Computer engineer and work like Web developer, so I know some stuff. I also bring PC to local PC experts but did not helped me. Motherboard seller said that he did not have fault Motherboard like this, usually is something bigger. He also think this is driver issue/conflict and he can send me new motherboard.
I have a similar problem with the Intel Wifi 6 AX201 160Mhz, it still doesn't work despite following the same instructions, I recently did a fresh install of Windows 11 and to date it's the only device that doesn't work. The strangest thing about the issue is that Bluetooth doesn't work either and it doesn't appear in the list of devices, can you help me?
For the people with issues make sure you really follow each step as Scott mentioned and, for me, after the new drivers are installed I had to shut down the pc on the power button otherwise would still fail for some reason.
I have a Dell Optiplex 7090 with AX201 network adapter, been having problems lately, at least 3 months of this. I have a huawei AX3 Wifi 6 router, before it was working fine, usually got 2.1gbps speed, suddenly AX201 dropped. I have a notebook with AX201 showing similar symptoms.
The symptoms that I found were that I couldn't access Wifi 6 5GHz, only 2.4GHz.
Apart from wifi 6, I also have a wifi 5 router TPlink C8 which also worked fine before, on average it can get speeds of up to 1.3gbps.
After the issue of not being able to connect to 5GHz wifi 6, I tried connecting to Wifi 5, it turns out that the highest speed is only 190mbps.
I have tried the steps given here, I applied on a notebook and Dell Optiplex 7090, but it didn't work, the symptoms remain the same.
I have another older notebook but the wifi card has been replaced using the AX210, it doesn't show the same symptoms as the AX201.
Finally I tried changing the wifi card on my Dell Optiplex 7090 using AX210, the above symptoms disappeared, AX210 worked perfectly, connecting to Wifi 6 got 2.1gbps, and to wifi 5 got 1.3gbps on the same wifi network as AX201 used.
It can be concluded that the issue is indeed the problematic AX201, if you search the internet, many complain about the AX201, and not a few who provide various kinds of troubleshooting but nothing works.
Hi, even though this fix works for a while, it isn't a final complete fix, the problem is related with some keyboards or mouses wireless, Logitech in my case as soon as I disconnect the wireless keyboard and mouse restart the machine and reinstall the driver the problem is gone. Something in this chip doesn't like my wireless mouse or keyboard.
Buonasera, ho un LENOVO YOGA C640-13IML, dove da un p di mesi ha installato windows 11. Da un giorno all'altro l'icona WIFI e BLUETOOTH sono scomparse, ho provato ad eseguire i passaggi elencati sopra ma il problema persiste, ho fatto anche un reset del pc ma non cambiato nulla. Volevo provare a tornare a windows 10 ma non posso perch passato troppo tempo.
