Hello neighbours,

I have some Swiss chard plants that are producing far more leaves than we can eat so I was wondering if anyone would like a plant or two?

If you haven’t grown Swiss chard before, it seems to grow alright in a largish flower pot outside or in the garden and likes full sun or partial shade. Besides slugs and snails, it can be damaged by leaf miners but the advice is to just remove the affected leaves. Plants can survive the winter with some protection and should produce more leaves next spring before bolting which, like lettuce, makes the leaves taste bitter. It can be used instead of spinach - just cut enough leaves for a meal and new ones will grow.

I've left some plants on a tray in our front garden so please help yourselves.
