Hey gang,

Our next indoor triathlon is this SATURDAY AFTERNOON (tomorrow) as we kick off a new brand season of the Tri312 indoor triathlon (and duathlon!) series!

Our Tri312 indoor triathlons at the "EAC" location is in a 100-year old building (Sovereign Hotel) at the EDGEWATER ATHLETIC CLUB (EAC) with some older equipment and facilities... but some fun history to it:

When the Sovereign hotel opened (over 100 years ago!), the Prince of Wales visited and presented two ornate vases, which are displayed in a sitting room. The Prince later became King Edward VIII and then abdicated the throne in order to marry the American divorcee, Wallis Simpson. They became the Duke and Dutchess of Windsor.  The duke might also have bumped into Charlie Chaplin or Gloria Swanson who -- building lore has it -- stayed here when they made movies at the famed Essanay Studios in Chicago, which were in the neighborhood.  Johnny Weissmuller , who competed in the Olympics and played Tarzan in films, swam in the building's indoor pool.

If you're interested in being a part of this indoor tri (only a few people will be racing) to kickoff our Tri312 series for the year, make sure you sign up to race and/or volunteer this weekend if you have not done so already!

To volunteer, sign up at http://www.Tri312.com/volunteer to pick your specific volunteer role(s)!

To race, please feel welcome (as alumni of our volunteer events) to use code "volunteermonster" for $25 off at www.Tri312.com

VOLUNTEER TEXT MESSAGE GROUP
Please sign up and/or update your settings in our volunteer TEXT MESSAGE group here as we'll use this tool to communicate with each other over the weekend via text message.  Feel free to send a text message to introduce yourself and let us know if you plan to help out with any specific tasks and/or if you're racing too:  https://tinyurl.com/indoortri-text

SATURDAY AFTERNOON SETUP + EVENING SOCIAL @ BURKE'S
We will be around setting up a few things earlier in the afternoon, including potentially doing a quick "VIP" volunteer and staff wave of the indoor tri!  If you are interested in participating in a more informal "early wave", let us know... the plan will be to setup around 2-3pm.  Post race, we will head out for a social hour starting around 5:30pm at BURKE'S PUBLIC HOUSE - The Friendliest Place in Edgewater! (https://www.burkespublichouse.com/)

TEAMREACH.com -> use code "Tri312"
Feel free to reach out if you have any questions, anytime!  Sending a text to the text group works great for urgent matters on race day, and for keeping everyone informed of any FAQ, please also feel welcome to join our new TEAMREACH GROUP that anyone can join for both TRI312 updates and general Chicago area training - simply download the "TeamReach" phone app from www.TeamReach.com and use code "tri312" to join in!

VOLUNTEER CHECK IN @ 2:30pm + PARKING @ Open Lot near "6219 N Kenmore Ave" (get parking pass from front desk to display in car dash)
When you arrive, please check in at the main EAC front desk (where you can get a parking pass to display in your car dash).  You can park across the street in the lot directly across from the entrance of the club (google "6219 N Kenmore Ave").  Then check for signage and proceed to ATHLETE CHECK IN which may be located by the BIKE AREA.  At this event, we may have the BIKE area and ATHLETE CHECK IN table next to each other!   This area will also serve as VOLUNTEER CHECK IN to help keep volunteering areas closer together, making it easier and more consolidated overall.  We'll give you more instructions there and answer any final questions too!

In the mean time, here is a general informational sheet for INDOOR TRI VOLUNTEER TIPS that you can review:  http://tinyurl.com/VolunteerMonsters-Tips

We look forward to seeing many of you tomorrow!!!

-Coach Chris
