Hey gang... long time no tri!

Our next indoor triathlon is this SUNDAY as we kick off a new brand of indoor triathlons known as Tri312!

We scaled down our first triathlon due to some equipment issues as we're hosting this event in a 100-year old building (Sovereign Hotel) at the EDGEWATER ATHLETIC CLUB (EAS) with some older equipment and facilities... but some fun history to it:

When the Sovereign hotel opened (over 100 years ago!), the Prince of Wales visited and presented two ornate vases, which are displayed in a sitting room. The Prince later became King Edward VIII and then abdicated the throne in order to marry the American divorcee, Wallis Simpson. They became the Duke and Dutchess of Windsor.  The duke might also have bumped into Charlie Chaplin or Gloria Swanson who -- building lore has it -- stayed here when they made movies at the famed Essanay Studios in Chicago, which were in the neighborhood.  Johnny Weissmuller , who competed in the Olympics and played Tarzan in films, swam in the building's indoor pool.

If you're interested in being a part of this super mini indoor tri (only a few people will be racing) to kickoff our new Tri312 series, make sure you sign up to race and/or volunteer this weekend if you have not done so already!

To volunteer, sign up at Tri312.com/volunteer to pick your specific volunteer role(s)!

To race, please feel welcome (as alumni of our volunteer events) to use code "volunteermonster" for $25 off at www.Tri312.com

VOLUNTEER TEXT MESSAGE GROUP
Please sign up and/or update your settings in our volunteer TEXT MESSAGE group here as we'll use this tool to communicate with each other over the weekend via text message.  Feel free to send a text message to introduce yourself and let us know if you plan to help out with any specific tasks and/or if you're racing too:  https://tinyurl.com/indoortri-text

SATURDAY NIGHT SETUP & SOCIAL
We will be around setting up a few things the night before the event, including potentially doing a mini "VIP" volunteer and staff wave of the indoor tri!  If you are interested in participating in this, let us know... the plan will be to setup around 5-7pm and then grab dinner nearby at Beard & Belly (the restaurant owned by some of our own triathletes!) around 7pm @ https://beardandbellychicago.com/

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions, anytime!  Sending a text to the text group works great for keeping everyone informed of any FAQ, so please use that as much as you like!

VOLUNTEER CHECK IN
When you arrive in the morning, please check in at the main front desk (sign in sheet), then check for signage and proceed to ATHLETE CHECK IN which may be located by the BIKE AREA.  At this event, we may have the BIKE area and ATHLETE CHECK IN table next to each other!   This area will also serve as VOLUNTEER CHECK IN to help keep volunteering areas closer together, making it easier and more consolidated overall.  We'll give you more instructions there in the morning and answer any final questions there too!

In the mean time, here is a general informational sheet for INDOOR TRI VOLUNTEER TIPS that you can review:  tinyurl.com/VolunteerMonsters-Tips

We hope to see some of you on SUNDAY MORNING!!!

-Chris
