EncryptPad, a free open source project for privacy and security, today announced the general availability of beta version 0.5.0.2, a community driven text editor facilitating symmetric encryption of text and binary files that implements the OpenPGP protocol.

The main purpose of this release is to improve the vim editing mode and add line numbers. There are also an improvement in the build configuration, updated dependencies, updated localization and bug fixes.

Release notes:

* An option has been added to display line numbers in the editor
* Bug fix: invalid characters entered by the user are not checked and a bad key file is created on Windows
* Bug fix: in the file encryption dialogue clearing the passphrase sometimes causes invalid behaviour
* FakeVim mode: the cursor has become more consistent and presentable
* FakeVim mode: the native file open dialogue can now be used
* FakeVim mode: support relative line numbers (rnu)
* Bug fix: in FakeVim mode the CPU consumption is 100% due to an infinite loop in the Paint event
* Botan has been updated to version 2.19.2
* Localization has been updated

I would like to thank package maintainers, community for making this release possible and the contributors below:

* Yurii K - updating the documentaion for the build on Ubuntu
* ZyxerZyxani - adding instruction on how to build on VoidLinux

I would also like to thank EmadFathy and others for submitting bugs
