Neverhappened with any other Telstra Modem in my possession. Have to admit that I currently do not own this latest Arcadyan model but every other Telstra model I own were just left on and the "T" headquarters, eventually updated all my models easily.
Mine upgraded on the first night after installation to 0.05.04r and sits there since Sunday.
No further upgrades have been triggered even though it's running 24x7.
I've also tried resetting to factory defaults (which shouldn't be doing) with no success.
Any other ideas how to push it for an upgrade? My understanding is that 0.05.04r one of the least stable versions out there.
My Firmware Version is 0.07.05r. Got new TSM Gen 2 for a few days. It was 05.04r, but found internet has lost for a few times. Never force to update the firmware, I guess the Gen 2 updated itself that caused the internet lost for a very short time.
My Arcadyan LH1000 seems to be stuck on firmware 0.07.05r. I've tried everything mentioned in this thread. Factory reset, reboot multiple times, power off and wait, power back on again. It does appear to have TR069 activity in the logs but nothing relevant to firmware activity. Here we are in March 2020, and I'm still on the old firmware instead of the 0.09.11r like everyone else. Should I bother to ring Telstra to try to get a tech to do it? I'm simply after the hairpin NAT fix.
Has anyone been able to get the f/ware updated. I have performed a factory reset on the modem, and although it connects to the Internet without any issues, I now find that the modem, does not allow me to perform any functions wtihin. I am able to login to the modem, but cannot access any of the functions. All I am displayed with is a BLANK network diagram, with no option to select any options. I have used many devices to connect to it, from remote to wireless and wired and all show the same. Using the Telstra APP for support, is absolutely USELESS
The latest update hasn't hit mine yet, generally a push button reset followed by a factory reset in the gui will allow an update to come through if present. The log shows no update for me yet so back into bridge mode for now.
The modem my Father has, has gone into "sleep" mode. It working fine, then all of a sudden, light on the LH1000 went red.
The connectivity lights on the back, don't light up (only WiFi and the Pairing buttons do) and the front light is now red.
After reading this, by my recall we are on the r10 firmware, not the r11. I have had the modem turned off for a while, so I'll leave it on for this 72hrs and see what happens (if it updates to r11).
It may already be on there, but we haven't had it turned on for long enough to update. I noticed the update from r7 to r10 had the same sort of thing.
See how it goes.
Does anyone else find that the this Gen2 modem doesn't fallback to 4G as well as Gen1? I used to have to reboot it to get 4G to work when NBN was down, switched back to my Gen1 when there was a scheduled outage coming up and when the NBN went down the fallback worked flawlessly. Not sure if the latest firmware fixes that (or if it was just my router lol)?
Got two Arcadyan SMG2s that haven't updated to 0.11.11r no matter what I try. Tried multiple factory resets (both using the GUI and the reset button on the back of the modems), power off/on cycles, left overnight after reset with nothing plugged in, etc. Anyone having the same issue?
Telstra has over 3 million services so updates are clearly being sent out to routers in batches usually overnight when less likely to disrupt users . It will be several weeks before all their routers have been updated.
- Under WiFi / WiFi Network settings, there is a switch to turn WiFi PMF on or off. This may have appeared on an earlier release and I missed it, but it definitely was not there on my initial install.
- under "This PC" on PC desktop, a new Network location "Telstra Smart Modem" has appeared with a penguin icon.
Don't know if any one else has noticed other enhancements / fixes?
Thanks for the feedback.
Maybe I missed this before as previous updates were done on my old PC (Win7). I have just set up a new PC (Win10) so this is the first update for the SM2 I have had using this PC.
Not sure if "My Computer" on Win7 is different in this regard as to "This PC" on Win10, or if I just had different settings. Also on new PC have now got a network icon for my NAS which I did not have on old PC.
I recently purchased one of these modems for another ISP. I had a little trouble understanding the interface, to begin with (perhaps it was too idiot proof ... LOL) and after a ton of mucking about, I decided I'd just factory reset once I know what I was doing and set everything up.
Cant say I have ever seen a firmware update tab on the modem ever and I have had since version 0.09.11r. Try factory resetting it and just let it connect to the 4G LTE backup and see if you get internet access if you do let it sit and it might download and update the firmware. Some people have reported using it on another ISP that firmware updates work other says it doesn't and they just unplug and let it use 4G to update.
Now if your simcard doesn't work anymore you can use any telstra retail sim in the modem if you have one from your phone or a mobile broadband device and change the apn in the modem to telstra.internet which will give internet access and then shortly start the update process. This is what I do to keep my 2nd backup modem up to date I just use my Mobile broadband sim out of my 4GX modem. Usually takes about 5-15 minutes to start the process.

It still connects, but I've also read conflicting reports as to whether it updates in the supplied sim. I could try using the one on my phone, though I'll need to track down a sim converter/adaptor first. My phone uses a nano sim and the modem uses a regular sim card.
It just did 0.12.15r and is now working on the next one. I find it funny that when you reach out to the community after you've "hit your limit" of what you know, tech just has a way of going .... "Nah! just kidding. Here ya go!"
I went into the Telstra shop (Woden, ACT) this morning to see how long it would last and was told emphatically that once the 250G on that was gone, that's it and you can't refresh it or get another. God, it's annoying how these guys have no idea. I guess I should just rely on Whirlpool for the real information.
I've been pretty much trying all morning, resetting it every 15 minutes to try and force it. It's just not happening. I might look into the new sim sharing (well the new sim sharing Telstra just brought back) to see if I can get it to do it that way ... or try and get a adaptor for my phone sim.
It would be nice if you could have a bit of flexibility with the LH1000, allowing you to delay & schedule an update or even manually force an update at your convenience, but at least they roll them out. Updating my other modem is a completely manual process; you need to hunt down the new firmware (if you think there may be one out there .... nothing to let you know there's an update), download it and "click and pray".
This would definitely be nice. Especially since the Arcadyan seems to perform updates at any point in time. So far my observations have indicated that the Technicolor variant has only ever updated in the early hours of the morning when most users are asleep.
You'll be happy to know they are working on that particular issue for the Arcadyns after a lot of tech complaints. The Technicolors are now supposed to be able to skip right to the latest firmware though I heard it can still take a while.
So.... i have read the last few pages here and just want to ask a noob question, if i have a Arcadyan LH1000 (Telstra supplied modem albeit about 2 years ago now) and i am currently with Telstra NBN (HFC), if I decide to go to another provider and ditch Telstra, can i still use the modem with the new provider? Do i need to do anything or is everything done when i tell the new provider to hook me up and tell Telstra... see ya later!!?
I have 0.15.16r and I have been having DNS problems for a while. It might take 2-3 attempts to get the DNS address for a common webpage like
whirlpool.com.au or others. Yes using my ipad with wireless I get to the pages instantly when my desktop is having trouble through the router/smart modem.
I have switched back to my Technicolor model after this update (and running for 45 days without an issue now). I had assumed that the issue I faced was due to Wi-Fi Doctor bugs coming back, but looks like there might be more at play here based on these reports.
It did for me to I changed to cloudflare for both ipv4 and v6. I don't think it has anything to do with WiFi ethernet probably would of been acting the same. As speed tests and everything were fine was just getting DNS errors in chrome periodically or long page load times randomly.
This makes sense. When you select Telstra as the DNS provider, the modem acts as a DNS cache. I suspect what is happening is that the DNS responder on the modem itself is crashing and no longer responding to queries.
You can validate this by checking the DHCP lease information of any client on the network where you will see that the clients are pointed to the modems own IP address for DNS queries when Telstra DNS is selected. However, when you are using a third party DNS provider the modem will pass on the IP address of the DNS provider itself to the client devices via DHCP.
