The girlfriend has Pokemon Stadium, with the N64 and we're just curious if you can use the transfer pak and the built in gameboy player to play any game. I do know that we're unable to do so by plugging the game straight into it then turning it on, it just won't let us... just curious if there is a way to do so. ^_^

I don't think the transfer pak has Game Boy hardware built into it, so I think Pokemon Stadium uses an emulator to run pokemon games. If that's the case, then my conjecture is that you would have to write a general purpose emulator that interfaces with the transfer pak, that in turn can be stored on an n64 flash card, and uhh... played. Sounds like a great deal too much effort.

It's just for pokemon games, you can't play other gameboy games through it, however, there were rumored other games taht would support gameplay through the device. Or support. I seem to remember "perfect dark" (may be remembering wrong) was originally supposed to use the gameboy camera to put you "in" the game...yeah, I can see a few obvious reasons that didn't happen though.

Oh, and it's only certain pokemon games. If I recall correctly, the first three (red blue and yellow) could be played on the first Pokemon Stadium game, if you wanted to play Gold Silver or Crystal, you had to have Pokemon Stadium 2....I don't remember if the first three could be played on the second pokemon stadium or not, I don't see why not.

My favorite thing with Pokemon on the transfer pak was the "fast forward" function. God it was actually painful to play that game on the gameboy after playing it on the 64 Perfect for turn base game play like Pokemon.

I'm not sure about Mario golf, but I know Mario Tennis allowed you to import your character from the story mode on the gameboy game to use on the N64, and even get experience and stuff. I thought it was pretty cool as a kid

I always thought they were just GB to N64 ports that would be unlocked with the Transfer Pack, since that would've seemed easier to me than coding an emulator. But the YouTube channel My Life in Gaming says it's an emulator and that people are experimenting with varying degrees of success with loading other games.

Yeah, you can transfer your Mario Golf character from the GBC to the 64. Originally Perfect Dark was going to use the camera to transfer faces on characters. The Columbine shootings was a reason they removed it. I can't remember if I read it here or elsewhere, but I thought some of the coding for the feature was still in the game.

Pokmon Stadium, the classic 3D battler/minigame collection for the Nintendo 64, just got a Nintendo Switch Online release date. While the game's imminent arrival to the online service was announced at a Nintendo Direct in September 2022, today is the day we finally know when we can play it. Pokmon Stadium comes to Nintendo Switch Online Wednesday, April 12. As is the case with all N64 games, you'll need the expansion pack in order to play it. Check out the full trailer below.

While some fans may have hoped this port would include trading with Pokmon Home, they're unfortunately out of luck. The fine print in the trailer specifies that "Pokmon cannot be transferred to this game." Pokmon Stadium 2 is more of the original Pokmon Stadium: the player gets to actually watch a Pokmon battle, as opposed to being told about the attacks and watching Pokemon shake around on the GameBoy. Like the previous iteration, Stadium 2 was compatible with a Transfer Pak. This meant that a player could connect their GameBoy to their N64 and watch their very own Pokemon, whom they had nurtured since capturing in their Pokeball, had evolved, had taken to Nurse Joy, on the big screen (their television).

But you might not want to have two electric types fight against each other. Type selection is 101 for any Pokmon battle, in or out of the stadium. Sending out a grass Pokmon against a Charizard is just asking to get burnt up, and sending a Charizard against a Geodude will go nowhere.

In its main campaign against a variety of trainers, Stadium 2 first has the player pick through hundreds of Pokmon looking for a team of six. And then, a little like a Madden game, it asks the player to develop a strategy. Some will prove easier than others. A team that works great against bug Pokmon might find itself struggling against psychic types. A good variety is crucial.

All the gamesaves I've found online have already completed the hall of fame, and the user(s) who created these saves did not include the psyduck in it (either it was taken off the game or there was no space to accept it in Oak's lab)

I'm also looking for a stadium EEVEE and Bulbasaur, but these are less important as the gamesave I have been playing on I will unlock them. The amnesia psyduck, however, appears to be a one-time unlockable and I'm unable to obtain it on the gamesave I'm using.

So, I've just checked that gift pokemon get generated when trasnfered to the gen 1 games, so I'm gonna get a savegame for each of the gift pokemon to be received, for round 1 and round 2 and the amnesia psyduck. I'm playing the spanish version, but the save is compatible with at least all EUR versions, and the UK should be the same as USA one so...

Well, I messed up a little. It seems that receiving a normal box or gorgeous box attached to the gift pokemon does not depend on wether you are playing roun 1 or round 2, but depends just on wether you have unlocked round 2 or not.

Basically this means no amnesia psyduck with normal box unless I get all the pokemon in the hall of fame... AGAIN. That's not gonna happen, so no amnesia psyduck with normal box. Shouldn't really matte, but I wish I had known.

EDIT 3: Erm... seems like amnesia psyduck can only carry gorgeous box, even at round 1, so basically I have the saves. Coupled with the complete one at zophar's (for teaching surf to pikachu) now all saves are available (when I upload mine). I'll probably finish my round 2 save with full hall of fame for a complete R2 with amnesia psyduck retrieval

EDIT 4: Here are the fla savefiles, I'll update the file when I get the round 2 savefile. The one with "151" still has amnesia psyduck for retrieval from the hall of fame, the save before it only misses 2 hall of fame entries.

Local play was a very popular mechanic of Pokmon Stadium, so utilizing the Nintendo Switch Online's service to add multiplayer is a big enhancement to the game.
