These folders are the locations where the presentations are stored. If you have everything synced to your cloud, you can delete it, but next time when you open the desktop application, it is going to start to download the content automatically.
You can use Prezi Desktop to create 'prezis' (PowerPoint presentations) on your computer without an internet connection. You can save the presentations on your computer or upload them to Prezi.com if you want to work on them or share them online.
So my workaround is to run the Prezi desktop editor on my laptop screen only. However, when I click present the on my laptop screen the editor tosses the presentation over to the 2nd monitor, the ultrawide screen. In this scenario the Prezi desktop program will consistently crash as soon as the presentation tries to appear. As a workaround, I would like to tell Prezi desktop to not try to present to the second monitor. but there is no control for that.
I used to use Prezi Desktop to design prezis and uploaded to online. However, recently PD is working very badly:
1.- You can not share anymore the link of your prezi using Share link in PD, the result is a 403 error. You need to get the link via web and not Prezi Desktop
2.- Now it is hanging after updating the prezi and I have lost all the changes made tonight (not happy).
I like non-linear presentation software like prezi. The problem with Prezi is it is not open source and not a desktop client (For linux). You will say use Libra-Office Impress but it is linear and I hate that. If there isn't any non-linear presentation software for linux like Prezi Desktop, than is there a plugin that make Libra-Office Impress like it or Apache OpenOffice? I want a desktop client, and not a web-base app!
I am looking for a bit of help, i have a presentation tomorrow and Prezi next desktop app will not install. I have used it previously but formatted the computer a while ago and have just tried to install prezi next app.
I have downloaded Prezi desktop video app. It worked one day and not the next. There is just a black screen and no video input.
My camera works fine for Zoom and Skype.
I have restarted the computer, and reinstalled the app. No good.
when I use the app, the app cannot access the camera despite clicking the icon to show my face and the prezi presentation. I have already checked my settings and granted access to the app. I have uninstalled and installed the app.
As for your case, with a Basic license you can use the online editor. For the desktop application, you need a Plus or Edu Plus license. For further details on what each license type covers, please check this article in our Knowledge Base.
The workaround I found was to copy and paste between presentations in my browser and not use the desktop app. When I opened the presentation the item in the library appeared as expected and I was able to import. I avoid the editing the the browser due to performance problems, especially when opening multiple presentations.
Running Prezi desktop and just editing a normal Prezi presentation. Went away for lunch and left the editor open. Came back and CPU is running hot with fan and Windows PC performance is very sluggish. Prezi is consuming a huge amount of memory and CPU:
I close Prezi desktop and came back in and everything is back to normal. This happens all the time and the workaround is to always restart the Prezi editor. Also related, that during normal editing, I can never use Prezi without plugging in a power adapter as it consumes the battery too quickly.
Hi @nicola_guanti, thanks for the screenshot with the specifications. Could you please let me know which application are you using? Prezi Next? Prezi Video? Are you using the desktop app or the browser version?
I have been a user of Prezi classic on and off over the past few years, i have noticed that Prezi Next is the new version being pushed. One of my main requirements is to create and store prezis locally, is this possible with prezi next and if not what licence or version do i need in order to do this?
First I am looking into upgrading my account to be able to use the desktop software. In order for me to use Prezi I need to know that if the presentation is started on my local computer, will it stay local?
Also, can I start a presentation on the desktop software? Simple questions that a phone call could handle about your product before I spend money. Seems backwards to spend money to ask the questions to find out the software cant do what you want. Very uninformed buyer here.
Until then I could suggest a workaround for you: create the presentation in the desktop application without connecting to the internet and then export the presentation for offline use. Before connecting to the internet, delete the presentation from the desktop application. This way you will have the offline standalone presentation which you can present (not edit) and nothing will be synced to our servers.
I have an issue with syncing in the app. I have to prezis that are not particulary big and a stable internet connection but the content of the prezis I cannot download. Can this be a corporate firewall issue? Any others that experience the same issue?
Hello Bart!
Same thing here - I have some old prezis (lectures, even one whole course) I would like to use in Prezi next or at least to use / convert them to next to use them also in future!
Thank you!
If you would like to deliver a presentation to a computer that is completely offline, you can first download the desktop application to a different computer (with internet connection), log in with a Plus or a Premium license and download a portable presentation, which you can later export to a USB drive.
Actually the Next desktop app should run much smoother than the Classic app. Prezi Next is based on the latest HTML5 technology and we recommend our users who started using Prezi earlier to start experimenting with Next as it is built on a more reliable and permanent technology. Please let us figure out how to run the application smooth on your end because with the right device and settings you should definitely not encounter these issues.
Also finding Prezi Next desktop lags out when trying to rotate objects. So the main problems so far are grouping/selecting/moving multiple objects and rotating objects. Causes the program to lag out and get very slow.
You can use it for free through a web browser, or offline by installing desktop software that you have to pay for every year. You will have to create a user account with Prezi to use either version. A useful feature of the online version is that you can work collaboratively at the same time with several people on the same presentation. This can be useful for brainstorming and pulling together ideas.
Prezi Desktop is the free desktop version of the web-based presentation design software Prezi. The software allows you to use Prezi when offline as long as you were logged in beforehand.
The desktop-based PowerPoint program is part of Microsoft 365, which has different plans for businesses that start from $6/month and go up to $22/month. You can also buy an unbundled digital PowerPoint account for $159.99

Most of the elements in Prezi are vector based and if there are images then they are at high-resolution. The Prezi zooming function is working perfectly. You can zoom in and your slides still looks beautiful.
In Prezi you are free to change everything, background, text, animations, titles, images.
