A few months ago I published an article and video demo about how to block websites and apps over the WiFi network. I got few comments requesting to block the TikTok app, PUGB Game, as well as Roblox game.

Step 6: Configure the router IP address in OpenDNS. Log in and navigate to the Settings tab and hit on [ADD THIS NETWORK] button and give it a name. The IP address is auto-populated from your network connection.

On the Network settings page, switch to Web Content Filtering and under Manage individual domains add the below domain names. Make sure to keep the Always block option under dropdown.

If you've any thoughts on How to Block Netflix on WiFi Router? (Quick Setup), then feel free to drop in below comment box. Also, please subscribe to our DigitBin YouTube channel for videos tutorials. Cheers!

Hi all, i recently purchased an RBK40 and DM200 to use with my vodafone broadband. I use the DM200 in bridge mode and the RBR40 as the router. However, when i use this set up i cannot stream Neflix on any device (i have tried Sky Box and Chromeast) and my sonos speakers have dissappeared in Spotify (it does not recognise them on the network) but they work fine in their native app. I also have intermitent access to Hive, sometimes it blocks me sometimes it lets me adjust the heating/lights. When i plug the ISP (vodafone) router in and use ORBI in AP mode all these problems dissappear but the ISP router is slow and drops freuently.

Have you contacted your ISP to see if your system is operating at 100% from their perspective? It could be some improper settings on their end that are causing issues. You said their hardware dropped frequently before you swapped equipment.

I have very similar issues to those described here, and have found this thread while searching for answers to the problem myself. So, this clearly isn't an isolated situation and I'd be very keen for a solution.

I also have VDSL supplied by Vodafone. When I use my DM200 modem (modem-only mode) connected to my Netgear Nighthawk R7800 (router mode), my network functions correctly EXCEPT that I am unable to stream Netflix from my devices and also Hive barely works at all (I can occasionally turn lights on/off but the Hub generally shows as offline and I cannot remotely monitor the status of my Hive devices).

Hi There - I just set up a AC1900 Wireless MU-MIMO Gigabit Router Archer A9 (which for some reason isnt an option from the model list up there) and it is lovely - my phone, tablet, computer, google home devices are all working great. However, netflix on my TCL smart TV won't work. The TV itself is connected and other channels (such as amazon prime) work. Netflix keeps giving me error codes tvq-st-103 and tvq-st-131, saying it can't connect to the network. I can watch netflix on my other devices. I've tried the obvious things like restarting the network by unplugging everything and then plugging back in one at a time, resetting the netflix login, returning the TV to factory settings... It's gotta be something with the router but I can't figure out what. Anyone here have any smart ideas?

You can try to factory default the router by holding the reset for 15 seconds. When the router is back up connect to the default Wi-Fi and test the connection. By default the router can not block specific traffic, but there might have been something adjusted which defaulting will clear out.

If the issue still happens it would be best to contact Netflix to see if there are any settings to adjust or to try since streaming services work with the router from other companies as other devices.

There could be regional differences affecting your connection. We recommend creating a thread on our global community. community.tp-link.com/en. This community, community.tp-link.com/us is only able to assist customers in the U.S. While issues may seem to be the same issue and in somecases they are its always best to interact with the team best able to handle your particular concerns.

Because i am also a consumer i do get annoyed when companies say this but in this case the first thing to do is reach out to the manufacture of the TV and troubleshoot their device first. This is because since its the only device having issues the troubleshooting would want to begin at the client and not the router. If more devices were having the same issue then it would be one thing but with just one experiancing this issue that is where you would want to start.

We have a Firepower 4115 that we just recently migrated from ASA to FTD. We are looking to block netflix. We don't yet have the licensing in place to do URL filtering, so we have defined a netflix.com FQDN object and have an access list rule to block that. This seems to only work part of the time. We believe it was working correctly under ASA. Is it possible to block netflix at the firewall without URL filtering?

Since the FQDN option is hit or miss for your scenario I would recommend testing the block via application filters. If you edit your ACP go to applications tab and search for Netflix. There should already be Cisco provided Netflix filters. HTH!

I think you need URL license to do it proberly.. And i think the reason you see the block with fqdn netflix.com only works part of the time, is if users go to netflix.yyy then your acl wont block it. I dont know if you can do a wildcard fqdn in your access list so netflix.* and problably you should do *netflix.* if possible.

which ever geo location you in you do nslookup and upload the file (if you using FMC) go to objects-->security intelligence-->network list and feeds--->Add network list and feeds---> here a pop up will appear called it any name you want in "Type" call your text file and upload it.

I have four locations with Draytek and we run everything. Amazon, Disney, Netflix, Hulu, plex, IMDb, AppleTV+, zoom, Facebook live, Teams, VoIP on asterisk and Cisco UCCX and the only thing special we had to do was for Locking the public side of VoIP down to block brute force attacks from off shore and turn off SPI on the little ones.

Make sure you turn off SPI packet inspection on the firewall as the little Drayteks lack the CPU to handle streaming in real-time. Also check your WAN settings for proper NAT setup. You are describing a programming issue.

I too am having a similar problem, for me however all Smart TV apps are working (Amazon/Disney/YouTube etc.) EXCEPT Netflix, which does work when the Samsung TV is connected directly to my Sky router. Also, other devices (Android/iOS/Firestick), all apps INCLUDING Netflix are fine through either the Sky or Draytek router, so it is something specific with Netflix on the Samsung TV.

Did anyone find a fix for this as I suspect it may be the same root cause? I have disabled the FW on the Draytek 2927, Toggled HW Acceleration, Toggled UPNP, Disabled Spoofing protection, Toggled MAC to IP binding, used multiple DNS references, switched between Wired and Wireless, reset TV to defaults but still no resolution.

Look at the network settings on the TV try doing manual config. Try looking for firmware update on the TV as well. You may need to point it at a public DNS host. The issue seems to be device specific so you need to look at the device.

With over 240 million paid subscribers, Netflix is the most popular streaming service. Netflix offers users a wide variety of shows and movies. Netflix also gives users parental control options to block certain shows and movies. What if implementing Netflix parental controls is not enough? How to block Netflix? How to set a time limit on Netflix? Find answers in this article.

How do you unblock Netflix? There are four ways to unblock it (temporarily or permanently), such as quitting AppCrypt or removing Netflix from the block list. But any of the four ways requires the password. Therefore, the blocking is quite effective.

Under the Web Block tab, select Netflix. Click the clock icon that appears, which will bring up the Custom Schedule dialog. In the dialog, first turn on the Custom Schedule option. Click the existing schedule and edit it based on your needs. Just specify the time periods when you want Netflix to be blocked. You can add more schedules if needed.

Like with Mac, Netflix is available on Windows computers via the website netflix.com. But unlike with Mac, the Netflix app is available for Windows 10 and Windows 11. Therefore, to block the access, you can block the website, or the app, or both.

You can have a great Netflix experience on your iPhone thanks to the app. The app even allows you to download movies and shows to watch offline, helping make your daily commute more enjoyable. In addition, Netflix is good at recommending great content based on your tastes thanks to the smart algorithms they use. You may find yourself spending more and more time on Netflix.

Now the Netflix app is restricted on your iPhone or iPad. If you just want to stop yourself from watching so much Netflix rather than quitting it, you can set time limits based on your needs in Step 7.

You can also block netflix.com access if needed. Go to Screen Time main screen. Tap Content & Privacy Restrictions. Turn on the restrictions. Tap Content Restrictions > Web Content > Limit Adult Websites. Tap Add Website below Never Allow and add Netflix to limit.

The Netflix app is also available on Android phones and tablets. Netflix keeps optimizing the app to bring a better experience for Android users. If you spend several hours per day watching Netflix on your Android device, you may want to put a stop to it.

Thanks for the response. Can you provide details as to how I might accomplish. I run a home office where I need speed fusion for speed but had to disable it due to the fact my wife could not watch Netflix. It was not allowing the connection.

I have a balance with 3 DSL, each around 10 down 1 up and i was very excited to see that watching a 4k video uses all 3 lines at once. So netflix is working really good in this scenario. As you know exactly which networks are behind your VPN you can setup VPN outbound policies on base of the destination network policy and have local internet outbreak on your home router.
