I am new to boost library so my question is probably not the first one in this forum but I couldn't find a similar case.Currently I am trying to implement a simple HTTP client which calls REST API.I inspired my self from the example given on the boost's web site: HTTP client with boost

The example is clear enough for a newbie like me but I would like to make the client to be able to execute multiple requests one by one because the example is a one shot: the client sends a GET request to the server, than it receives the response and after that the io_service.run() returns.

Hello. I have applied to several jobs which have been closed. I have not received any refund connects. I think this has happened many times before but i didnt bother that much but now its becoming very obvious. I cant afford to buy connects. Can someone help?

Hello. By taking Upwork words it says: ''Your proposal has been archived''. So what does this mean? If you dont return connects for jobs that expire then anyone can create jobs to for freelancers to waste their connects so upwork makes more money by freelancers buying connects? What logic is this? It is very unfair to the poor freelancer who is toiling day and night and also paying 20% commission.

I am requesting this because I noticed that when a freelancer submits a proposal for a job and then the job gets closed or archived, the connects used to submit the proposal are not refunded to the freelancer by the system. If they could do that even upon withdrawing a proposal then that could be good because that would ensure the connects take some time before they elapse from submissions made to unresponsive clients. So the tech team need to do something about that, its for the good of everyone.

Hi. I need help regarding connects, I already tried to contact the Support but they did not reply to me for 9 to 10 hours, please read my problem and fix the issues. I bought 40 connects last month, I spent around 70 connects in applying for the jobs, most of the jobs were declined or expired but the connects were not refunded. I get 10 connects on the 7th of every month but i did not get this month please release all oy of lost connects, I can share the SS of declined jobs and connects history. I'm not getting the job expired connects for a long time please refund my all connects more than 100. one hand I could not get any job on the other hand upwork losing my connects. I'm not able to buy more connects without any job please refund my lost connects. Thank you

In addition, I can see that you did receive the 10 free Connects that are included in the Freelancer Basic membership. You can see this by going to Settings > Membership & Connects and clicking on "View Connects History". You can then filter by the last 7, 30, or 90 days, as well as by credits only, to see the Connects that have been added to your account.

Hey Upwork team,
I was wondering why don't you refund the connects spent by the freelancers when the client doesn't hire any member.
I see many jobs that get 20-50 proposals but the client doesn't hire any of them. The jobs get expired later and the freelancer loses the connects.

Hi! I got interviewed for to jobs and both of them made me an offer and I accepted, but then Upwork suspended and I had to end the contract but I didn't receive my free connects, both of this jobs were not real and got suspended by Upwork. I haven't got my connects back for this jobs.

Thank you for reaching out to us. Based on the screenshot you shared it looks like you closed the contract you are referring to. Please know that we return Connects when a client closes their job without hiring or we find a job post has violated our Terms of Service. You can find more information here.

I did bid on a job and boosted my proposal. I was not interviewed and after a few days I got back the connects that I used to boost my proposal. the other connects couldn't get back. can anyone guide me through it?

Hi, Most of the time the upword give you connect back even the connect you putted for proposal. But I noticed that when you also use some connect for boosting proposal. so after interview you will only review the connect of the boosting and will not recieve the connect you putted for proposal. So its normal.

I have updated to upwork Freelancer Plus membership. Since upwork gives 80 connects per month after updating to Freelancer Plus membership but I have not recieved any connects. Really need help with that. Thanks!

If you choose to upgrade your account from Basic to Plus, your free Connects will be prorated. This means that we'll allocate them based on time, or specifically, on how many days have already passed during your billing cycle. You can learn all about Connects here.

Hello,

I've recevied a few emails recently regarding job postings that have been removed due to them violating ToS in some way. From what I can tell, a few of these job postings were trying to handle business outside of Upwork once at the interview stage, which makes it impossible for Freelancers to be able to tell that the job is violating any ToS prior to submitting a proposal.

Therefore, I've spent numerous connects this month (which are not at all easy to come by when you're not dropping money on them) on job postings that have been removed due to violating ToS yet it shows as the proposal being declined, thus consuming the connects.

This appears to be an obvious flaw in the way Connects work and would love an explanation or consideration regarding this.

Thanks so much,
Jacobb

Also, I checked your account and found that the clients whose job posts were removed due to violating our Terms of Service, reached out to you. Therefore, you were awarded Connects for responding to them.

Hi pradeep , I want to know one thing . I find many clients just randomly post the job & they don't hire anyone. After a certain period of time , the job gets 'No longer available' as the client was not responsive so automatically the job may be closed by Upwork. So in that case , will i get my connects back (if i apply to any such job like this , where there is no hiring)?

Why Upwork isn't refunding the connects when a client lets the job expire without hiring? I can imagine some reasons but still it doesn't feel right to be charged for submiting proposals to jobs where clients may not be interested in hiring anyone from Upwork.

Please keep in mind that when you use your Connects, you are investing in the opportunity to promote your services to prospective clients. Your Connects are not returned if the client chooses another freelancer, lets the job expire without hiring, or if you withdraw your proposal from a project. We suggest that you carefully think about a project before sending proposal to a client.

I think Upwork could be thinking in some system where at least we get refunded some of the connects. It really doesn't make much sense to always be charged for applying to jobs where client's don't make any hirings.

I certainly understand your concern and we truly appreciate your feedback/suggestions. However, I want to reiterate what Annie Jane mentioned in her response, you are investing in the opportunity to promote your services to prospective clients by using your Connects. We strongly suggest you make some due diligence, think carefully, and look for the best job that will best fit your qualifications before submitting a proposal.

I wouldn't call that an investment, what I'm doing is sugesting you guys to think in a way to improve your system because right now is not coming out well, you are focusing a little too much on the profits and leaving behind the comfort of your work force.

We truly appreciate you sharing your experience and feedback, it really means a lot to us to improve our service. I'll make sure to pass this over to the appropriate team for review and consideration.

Upwork is focused on the clients and making money from the freelancers. They are not going to give up the cash from connects. Freelancers are a dime a thousand, if not more. Upwork doesn't need to care about freelancers or their comfort because there are so very many and more where they came from. Upwork does nothing to ensure the freelancers are even qualified to work on the platform; Upwork does not care about the quality of freelancers.

And too many clients feel the same way. I have clients who want me to rewrite some mess they paid for from an unqualified but dirt cheap freelancer. However, they want me to work for nothing. How much poor writing do you see online? The same is true for every field. Some clients just want something done and aren't concerned about quality.

Upwork depends on the freelancers for money; they will do nothing to stop the flow of money from connects and are no doubt finding new "benefits" that will cost more connects since most freelancers know or have discovered the boost feature doesn't help get contracts.

It is frustrating to see a job close when you know you are qualified and didn't get an interview. Some people are testing the system, some may have had emergencies or events that made the job irrelevant, and some may not have liked any responses for who knows what reason. It's hard to get into someone's head, and you probably wouldn't want to anyway.

That being said, more connects are not going to help anyone. There is another thread in the forum on this matter. There are too many unqualified freelancers with too many connects as it is now. It may seem unfair, but some investment is required with any job. I think every freelancer has to be more cautious about real and non-scam jobs when applying.
