I was recently traveling extensively throughout India and was excited to visit Thiruvananthapuram on the southwest coast, filled with British colonial architecture and lined by popular beaches. What intrigued me about the area was the excitement in the Indian press and throughout the region of the mass treasures that were unearthed at the famed Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple. Visiting the temple, I was awestruck at its decadence and gold-plated glory. This was after all the richest temple in the world. After my visit, it was announced that a hidden treasure vault had been discovered beyond the already well-documented Vault B inside. Adding to recent treasure findings in several other vaults, the researchers are estimating could total over $1 trillion. But that is where the problem starts, nobody wants to dare open the hidden inner sanctum.
(UPDATED 8/22/16) According to the India Times, an audit conducted into the assets of the famed Sree Padmanabhaswamy temple in Kerala's Thiruvananthapuram has shown that a massive amount of gold from its repositories has mysteriously disappeared. Up to 769 Gold Pots and Silver bars have been reported missing. Some skeptics are also suggesting that there is a hidden tunnel beneath the chamber that allowed the architects to lock the chamber doors from within, making it impossible to breach. This secret tunnel could invariably have led to many years of plundering the treasure trove without anyone noticing.
The temple is often in the news over the secret and mysterious vault named B or traditionally known as Nilavaras or Kallara. It so happened that a retired IPS officer Sundarajan filed a petition in the Supreme Court in 2011 to take stock of the temple's unaccounted treasury. Therefore, the Apex Court appointed a seven-member team to make a record of the said hidden or unknown treasury. After the group began searching for the treasury, they found six chambers and named it A, B, C, D, E and F. But opening the doors of these chambers proved a daunting task. However, as they continued with the task of seeing what these vaults treasured, they apparently found gold, diamonds and other precious gems and stones statues and thrones made of precious metals worth Rs 1 lakh crore. However, vault B or Kallara B remained untouched owing to the belief that the one who would attempt to open it would invite misfortune. This belief strengthened after the untimely demise of the petitioner within a few weeks after the vaults were opened.
It was in 2011 that the temple made it to the headlines when secret underground chambers were discovered to hold an immense amount of treasure. According to local legends, the kings of Travancore had hidden their vast wealth within the stone walls and vault of the temple. It seems that the legends are true.

The 'B' cell is one of the six vaults of the temple. The vault is hidden behind huge granite doors shut ajar for years. The vault cannot be accessed without breaking the doors. This could weaken the temple, the argument goes.
Inside temple premises, there are various chambers which are only opened a few times a year. These chambers have been named Vaults A, B, C, D, E, and F to simplify the process. All the other vaults except Vault B have one trillion dollars of treasure hidden inside them. But what is behind the doors of Vault B? No one knows and no one ever will because it is forbidden to open the doors of Vault B. The gate of the vault is made of solid thick gold walls.
The final chamber, or Vault B, is the entrance to the last secret room that was discovered in the Padmanabhaswamy Temple. It is guarded by two priests, and they say that inside this cell, there is a large room in which amazing secrets and knowledge of the world are hidden.
Hey guys, what you are seeing is the actual footage of a secret underground chamber in the ancient temple of Srirangam in India. This underground chamber was discovered in 2015 and experts confirm that this is an authentic video. The temple of Srirangam is at least 2000 years old and contains many ancient secrets. A week after this chamber was opened, authorities completely closed it and sealed with granite blocks and metal doors, which is what you see here. There is no way to enter or examine it now. What was inside the underground vault which was so secretive, that the entire structure had to be sealed off? I have been talking to several locals about this, and this is what really happened.
The famed Padmanabhaswamy temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu, the creator of the universe, in Thiruvananthapuram, in the state of Kerala, has fascinated India for many years. In centuries past, kings and dynasties had donated gold and jewels to the temple, sometimes weighing crown princes approaching adulthood and donating an equivalent weight in gold. It was rumored that these treasures are still hidden inside secret vaults beneath the ancient temple.
For a long time, the temple and its assets were controlled by a trust, headed by the Travancore Royal family. But in 2011, the Supreme Court directed the royal family to open the secret chambers of the temple and reveal its hidden wealth. Of the six vaults, five were opened. Among the valuables discovered in them include 800 kilograms of gold coins, an 18-foot-long pure gold chain, a gold sheaf weighing 500 kilos, more than 2,000 gold ornaments, a pure Golden Throne, studded with hundreds of diamonds and fully precious stones, several golden idols, and several sacks filled with golden artifacts, necklaces, diadems, diamonds, rubies, sapphires, emeralds, gemstones, and objects made of other precious metals. The treasure is estimated to be worth more than $20 billion, not accounting for its historical value which would probably be at least ten times more.
