to Enable Artisan
Sorry for not keeping in touch for such a long time regarding the
enable artisan project. We were facing problems of survival at
‘kumbham’ and I had to focus my attention there. Also I have not been
able to find a committed person for leading the enable artisan
project.. Now it looks like one person has joined me who could take
this forward. Sumit is from Jharkhand, alumina of NIFT Hyderabad who
is interested in the rural craft sector.

It so happened that I also did a 20 days design workshop with a group
of young potters from north Kerala. The products of my “DO NOTHING NO-
METHOD” workshop has been very original and the young potters are also
interested in joining Enable Artisan experiment. This seems to be a
very happy coincidence.

I would like to utilize this situation and begin the project. I feel
the next step would be to expose the potters to urban market and this
I plan to do after three months, may be in Delhi. In this time the
potters will further develop few more products and will also go in to
production of selected products.

Please go through the link and let us know how you feel about the
products. http://picasaweb.google.co.in/enableartisan/EnableartisanInitialPhase#

Even though the potters need support for three months we might be able
to raise enough funds from the exhibition sales.

As of now we have just Rs !,53,000..

We will need at least one more lakh. To participate in the exhibition
about 12 artisans will be traveling to Delhi, Jaipur and their travel,
stay, food expenses + the hall rent, publicity etc would come to this
much.

Off course if we can get some one to host them etc then it will be
helpful.

We could also do exhibitions at other metros by and by.

Let us know your suggestions.
