Wondering what a rain garden is? Here is your opportunity to
experience firsthand the building of two new neighborhood rain
gardens!!!
NORTHEAST NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION (NENA)
and CITY OF OLYMPIA RAIN GARDEN PROJECT
NENA and the City of Olympia are partnering to build two stormwater
rain garden facilities within the City right-of-way at 1807 Pine
Avenue, NE and 1010 Fir Street, NE. The rain gardens will help reduce
stormwater issues and will infiltrate and treat stormwater runoff
flowing from Fir Street.
The City will be excavating the grounds and amending the garden soils
for the rain garden facilities on Saturday, July 31, 2010. The NE
Neighborhood Association will be planting the gardens this fall and
providing long-term caretaking.
Please stop by anytime to learn about rain gardens and watch as they
are constructed.
