Important Neighborhood Meeting 8/9/10 Regarding Selection of New Police Chief

The City of Olympia is in the process of selecting a new police chief.
The city manager has asked the Coalition of Neighborhood Associations
to help with the Police Chief selection process.
The Coalition is inviting all neighborhoods to join the Steering
Committee at its next meeting on Monday,August 9th, at 6:30 pm at the
Olympia Center to discuss with Steve Hall, the city manager, the
qualities the neighborhoods seek in a new chief. Please plan on
attending this very important meeting and sharing your thoughts with
the city. We will begin our discussion with the following questions.
1. Describe the ideal Police Chief for Olympia?
2. What specific characteristics, skills, and experience do we need in
the next Chief?
3. What are the key issues the new Chief will be facing?
The second half of the meeting will be devoted to a major topic
that was raised at our May meeting, code enforcement. We will share
the steps we have taken over the last two months on this important
issue and the neighborhoods will then discuss next steps. We are also
seeking feedback from the neighborhoods on the city's website for code
enforcement. Please visit the city's website before our next meeting
and let us know how easy/difficult it is to navigate the site and
access code enforcement information. We appreciate your help with
this.
We look forward to seeing you all on Monday, August 9. If you are
unable to attend the meeting, please feel free to send a
representative to the meeting and/or email your answers to the above
questions to the CNA and we will pass on your responses to the city
manager.
