2-16-11 Obendienciómetro – Obediencemeter

En pos del SEÑOR vuestro Dios andaréis y a El temeréis; guardaréis sus
mandamientos, escucharéis Su voz, le serviréis y a Él os uniréis.
(Deuteronomio 13:4)

El que tiene mis mandamientos y los guarda, ése es el que me ama; y el
que me ama será amado por mi Padre; y yo lo amaré y me manifestaré a
él... Jesús respondió, y le dijo: Si alguno me ama, guardará mi
palabra; y mi Padre lo amará, y vendremos a él, y haremos con él
morada. (Juan 14: 21, 23)

¿Cuántas veces hemos rezado el Padre Nuestro, o lo hemos leído, o
incluído como parte de nuestra devoción al Señor?? ¿Recuerdan la parte
que dice “Hágase Tu voluntad así en la tierra como en el cielo”? ¿Qué
nos quiere enseñar Cristo al incluir esta frase en el modelo de la
oración? Y fíjense que se encuentra justo al principio de la oración,
antes de empezar a pedir salud, sustento y protección. Para mí esa
frase es un sútil recordatorio de la naturaleza de mi relación con
Dios. Es una relación en la cuál la obediencia es primordial y
fundamental. Si hubiera algún instrumento que midiera el grado de
obediencia en el ser humano, digamos un obedienciómetro, ¿qué nos
mostraría hoy?

“Amados, no os escribo un mandamiento nuevo, sino un mandamiento
antiguo, que habéis tenido desde el principio; el mandamiento antiguo
es la palabra que habéis oído. (1 Juan 2:7) En cuanto a vosotros, que
permanezca en vosotros lo que oísteis desde el principio. Si lo que
oísteis desde el principio permanece en vosotros, vosotros también
permaneceréis en el Hijo y en el Padre.
(1 Juan 2:24) Porque este es el amor de Dios: que guardemos sus
mandamientos, y sus mandamientos no son gravosos.” (1 Juan 5:3)

His commands and obey Him; serve Him and hold fast to Him.

Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He
who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and
show myself to him… Jesus replied, "If anyone loves me, he will obey
my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make
our home with him. (John 14:21, 23)

How many times have we prayed the “Our Father”, or have read it, or
included it as part of our worship? Do you remember the part where it
says, “Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven”? What was Jesus
teaching us when He included this phrase in the model for prayer?
Please, note the position of the phrase within the model. It is near
the beginning, before we start asking for health, or sustenance, or
protection, etc. To me, this phrase is a subtle reminder of the
nature of my relationship with God. It is a relationship in which
obedience is of utmost importance. If there were such an instrument
that could measure the degree of obedience in a human being, let’s
call it an obediencemeter, what would it register for us today?

“Dear friends, I am not writing you a new command but an old one,
which you have had since the beginning. This old command is the
message you have heard. (1 John 2:7) See that what you have heard from
the beginning remains in you. If it does, you also will remain in the
Son and in the Father. (1 John 2:24) This is love for God: to obey
his commands. And his commands are not burdensome” (1 John 5:3)
