Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer differed enormously. Huck Finn for one is
mainly self reliant. He often strays away from societies norms and
follows what he thinks is right. Tom on the other hand is very
imaginative and more outgoing. Tom is also more civilized and, for
the most part, follows the norms of society. But both are still kids
and they do tend to do things as they want. For example, Tom wants to
start a band of robbers (ch. 1). Huck Finn was more rebellious and in
a way blazed his own trail. He often didn’t go to school because he
enjoyed playing hooky. He was a sort of outlier separate from the
rest of society. He lived a tough life which greatly influenced his
outlooks and attitudes. Both Tom and Huck are adventurous but Tom
often follows behind. Huck is a horrible example for Tom. Tom on the
other hand lives the good life. He has a home with a nice welcoming
family. Tom sees to get dragged into doing a lot of things the Huck
wants to do. They tend to get into some mischief. Huck doesn’t come
from a nice household. He doesn’t seem to ever get the attention he
deserves. All in all, Huck and Tom are two different characters but
seem to get along well with one another.
