thisis a pro player status twitter: will respawn eletronic art ever nerf aim assist in 2024? How can mouse and keyboard players compete with an aim assist? and now they are all changing to pad controllers respawn can nerfed aim assist in 2024 or not?
@derankall Aim assist does need a rework, but for me, the biggest issue is things such as strikepacks, xim, etc. Those need to become bannable offenses as its 3rd party equipment that basically enables cheats.
Regardless of what one believes, my opinion is if you're using anything other than just the controller itself, (meaning you have an addon, controller paddles, whatever), its cheating.
The definition of cheating is: "act dishonestly or unfairly in order to gain an advantage, especially in a game or examination."
With that being said, strikepacks, xim, and the cronus zen all fall under the definition of cheating as they enable things the player wouldn't been able to do.
Console doesn't have M&K input, and I remember plugging in one into a friend's Xbox to see what would happen, and the game went, "please unplug that or else". Well, actually it said that the input wasn't allowed and that the account may be banned if we kept trying to use it. So, that means xim is cheating since M&K isn't allowed on console anyways. What about strikepacks and cronus zen? Yup, those are cheats too. PC players aren't allowed to use macros, and often times macros are considered cheating anyways, so that means the cronus zen is cheating as well, while strikepacks do things like reduce the already reduced recoil, which is an unfair advantage, so its cheating by definition.
TL;DR: Aim assist needs a nerf, while things like strikepacks, xim, cronus zen, etc. needs to be bannable as its just flat out cheating.
I don't play with the pad because playing CS for years and years I don't need the pad.
but you can see the difference that aim assist gives you
It's not fair as a game
in cs2 you are either good and kill or you are bad and miss shot .. that's not the case here
Unfair is playing as a controller player vs a m&k player. Aim Assistis the balanced between both type of players. M&k players are so use been unbeatable when playing against a controller players, that now that crossplay is a thing, now Aim Assist is an issue.
We controller players, when we want to play games that are m&k focus, where there is no chance for controller players to even have a chance to win a single gun battle against m&k players, m&k players tell us "well, learn how to play with m&k". So now we can advise the same thing to m&k players "learn how to play with a controller"
Nerfing Aim Assist will be suicidal for the game. Look at The Finals, they nerfed Aim Assist, and almost automatically the player count went down significantly. As you said, (I'm assuming you play on PC) you can hardly find a match. Why? PC players drop games like is burning their hands, for the next new game forgetting about the one they we're playing, or get bored of the game too fast. Believe me I know. I have PC and Console and is easier to find a match with crossplay off in my PS5 than in my PC. Another example is R6 Siege. If it wasn't for crossplay and Jynxi the game would've been in a coma state. But why? Thanks to Console players (and guess what platform Jynxi use?)
Sadly what you are describing is aimbot or cronus, because with aim assist you still need to play with the center of your monitor, and the white dot in the middle of the screen, aim assist doesn't do the job for you. If it was like that, cheaters wouldn't need aimbot, nor Cronus. You m&k players have a whole arm, while controller players have a thumb, not forgetting the input lag, with m&k the input lag is almost none existing, vs a controller, specially on PC. Again, is an unfair disadvantage, and Aim Assist is the balance. Again, if you think is unfair, as we controller players think is unfair in other games without aim assist, learn how to play with a controller. Isn't that what you guys tell us when we complain about m&k been an unfair disadvantage over controller players?
@XIHaveNoNameTagXnope it's not cronus , almost all the pro scene switched to controller because of aimbot assist , don't be delusional.
you just have no idea how broken apex aim assist is.
that's why we want input lobbies , why do you want do be in mixed lobbies when the game is aiming for you ?
Finally rotational aim assist has a specific deadly issue: It works by slowing down your aim. That means that if an opponent is moving close to you, they can and will outrun your aim.
We haven't even taken into account the fact that recoil removal "techniques" (read bugs that Respawn won't fix) can just straight up remove the recoil from guns (things like jitter aiming, recoil smoothing, and more).
Specifically recoil smoothing (strafing + counter aiming) aligns perfectly with how rotational aim assist works (you want to keep your crosshairs moving for it to actually do anything). This is why most controller players use it, since it helps your aim (as intended) and removes all recoil (due to the "exploit"). Which is why good players can use that to beam you.
M&K can do that too, and from a lot further away, but this is the technique that a lot of controller players use.
Professional players, like Hal, also have another relevant factor to consider: Comfort. It is not uncommon for M&K players to incur stress-related injuries to their wrists. This problem is significant to their performance, and controllers use a different set of muscles. For somebody that plays the game 40+ a week, increased comfort leads to a more stable performance.
Combine that with the fact that most pro-scene fights play out in midrange (where aim-assist shines), the fact that pros absolutely know how to abuse every advantage in their setup, and the fact that some of the M&K specific exploits are banned in ALGS (tap-strafing for example), and you get an environment which specifically nerfs M&K and a lot of people that know how to abuse controller specific advantage.
Have you actually seen videos on how the aim assist in apex works? It has been shown without a shadow of a doubt that aim assist HELP you stay on target by pulling your crosshair towards the target. When a target is in within the aim assist range, if you dont do anything with your stick. Your crosshair will still follow the target. How intense this following is, is dependet on how strong the setting for the aim assist is. E.g on console 0.6 means it helps you more stay on target and a little bit less on PC. But what aim assist ALWAYS does, is helping you to aim. So it literally pulls and follow your target. In essence it works like a aimbot, though its settings is designed in way to make it less aimbotty. The reason why people can run out of your aim assist, is because its settings is made so that aim assist will not move as fast as the player and once the player get outside of the "aim assist radius" the aim assist turns off. If aim assist was set to 1.0, then no amount of strafing would ever break aim assist. But is is not set to 1.0, it is set for 0.4. Still the basic principle of how aim assist is the same.
It is extremley obvious if you played MnK and then play controller. But there are plenty of videos on youtube that go in depth on how aim assist works.
The Respawn Beacon can revive the teammates for which the banner has been retrieved and is permanently disabled upon being used once. After the player retrieves a banner of one or more squadmates, they can go to any respawn beacon to respawn them. After 5 seconds, during which the player can not move, but can look around freely, the process of respawning a legend is started. The player's squadmates will be dropped off from a small spaceship, which is visible and audible to other legends around the area. Legends are respawned with 2 Syringes and 2 Shield Cells (alongside whatever Helmet and Evo Shield they had when they died, a Level 1 Knockdown Shield, any non-Supply Drop Weapons they had when they died without attachments, and 2 stacks of Ammo for each weapon), and have the cooldown of both their ultimate ability and their tactical ability reset.
