Hello,

My experiment generates too many outputs and exceed the disk quota. However, I cannot remove or move any files to free my space (I logged on users.emulab.net and did `rm -f`):

*** Disk Quota exceeded on z/users/zzy
*** ERROR: swapexp:
***   You are over your disk quota on users.emulab.net; please login there
***   and cleanup!
*** swapexp: Experiment FIA-NP-DUKE/TcpLoss cannot swap in when over quota!

rm: <file>: Disc quota exceeded

I did a quick search and found some similar issues:

It seems that I need the help of administrator.... I'm so sorry to disturb but could anyone please help me out?

Many thanks!

Zhenyu

The short answer is: I fixed it so that you should be able to remove files
again. The odd behavior is a result of using ZFS and its snapshot mechanism.

The longer answer is: don't store data/logs in your home directory.
It intentionally has a small quota and is intended only for your dot files
and basic user environment.

You should be using space in /proj/FIA-NP-DUKE for larger data requirements.
However, we ask that you do not do realtime, high volume logging to /proj
since it can easily saturate the NFS server. Use the node-local disks and
copy the logs back afterward.

Thank you so much! And sorry for my delayed response because I'm traveling now...

May I ask what do you mean by "node-local disks"? Is it my home directory?

Thanks again for your help!

The disks on the machines themselves. Every node in Emulab has at least
140GB of local disk.

Thanks! I tried it just now and I can indeed clean my space now.

Could you please specify the path of this local disk? Is it "/home"?
