Hello All!

I have finally got to releasing the next version of VGBA-Symbian, a
GameBoy Advance emulator for Nokia's S60 3rd Edition smartphones. It
is available from

http://fms.komkon.org/EmuSymbian/

This version is about 35% faster than the previous one, as I rewrote
CPU emulation in assembly, removed extra floating point operations,
and optimized graphics rendering.

That said, VGBA-Symbian still runs at about 1/4..1/2 of the real GBA
speed on a 208MHz Nokia phone. This is sufficient for role-playing and
puzzle games, but action games feel sluggish, like if they were
written in Java.

Other improvements include a built-in configuration menu with saved
preferences, better memory use, feedback when loading a new game,
fixes to BIOS emulation affecting rotated sprites, and better screen
synchronization (no more blinking white lines).

Just downloaded it from the web site and installed it. There were no
problems. You are either not downloading it from the main distribution
site or your browser has had a problem downloading this file.

Hi!

I tried the trial on my SE M600i today but the installation failed
with "memory stick was not found".
My memory stick drive letter is D: - not E: like its mentioned in the
instruction. Could that be the reason for my problem?!

Thx a lot
Kai

Sony Ericsson M600i is a Symbian phone, but it runs Sony's own UIQ
framework on top of Symbian.

VGBA website clearly says that the current VGBA-Symbian only works on
Nokia Symbian phones running the 3rd edition of Nokia's S60 framework.
Because your M600i phone does not run S60, it is not compatible with
VGBA.

Games, working in old builds do not work in trial version. Golden Sun
for example.
Sometimes, when loading a rom, phone hanging up deadly.(N93) Battery
removal is the key.

The new build is very different from the previous ones, as its CPU
emulation has been completely rewritten in assembly. This made it much
faster, but might have broken compatibility with some games. If you
have a list of games that do not work in the new build but worked in
the old ones, send it to me and I will investigate the problem.

As to the phone hanging up when loading a ROM, can't say much about it
right now: it has never happened to me (E70) not has anyone reported
it so far. Folks, if it happened with you, please let me know. The ROM
loading code itself looks harmless enough, but going to recheck it
just in case.

This site appears to install some spamware before you can download a
game, so I can't download it from there. It is also all in Chinese. :)

Thank you. I have checked it and it also loops on the VGBA-Windows.
Will look further into it.

I have looked at it. Apparently, it has got some kind of a pirate
"intro" attached to it. The intro code is supposed to show a cute
animation before going into the game. For some reason, this intro code
fails.

I suggest you try to find the same game without the intro.
