Hello, All!

I have just published VGBAnext 6.3.11, a new version of my universal GBA, GBC, and NES emulator for Android:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fms.emu

This release is based on the VGBA 6.0, released earlier this week. As you remember, I had to disable cheat features to avoid Google staff banning VGBAnext from the store. You can easily reenable cheats by downloading this file to your "Downloads" folder:

http://fms.komkon.org/EmuAndroid/VGBAnext-Cheats.zip

See below for the complete list of changes in this release.

ALL CHANGES:
* Now using latest VGBA 6.0 source code.
* When parent folder not available, showing storage devices instead.

Enjoy!

PS: fMSX Deluxe, the complete version of my MSX home computer emulator, is on $2.99 sale this week:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fms.fmsx.deluxe

Hi ~

I'm gonna guess this latest updated did something the audio for a few games. Currently using a Samsung Galaxy Note9.
-Pokemon Yellow Version
>Can't hear Pikachu say 'Pika-chu' at the intro + the sound affect with the shooting star to say 'Game Freak' sounds very off nor does it have the starry sound affect
-Pokemon Red, Blue
>Shooting Star that'll display 'Game Freak' has no sound when starting the game

-Pokemon FireRed Version
>Slight occurrences of crackling sounds

-Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters International 2, Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters Expert 3, Tennis no Ouji-sama (Prince of Tennis) Glorious Gold, Tennis no Ouji-sama (Prince of Tennis) Stylish Silver
>Crackling + 1 or 2 second delay as the music's playing

That's pretty much all I've noticed so far
I've tried an handful of enabling/disabling features to see if anything will make fix the audio. Unfortunately nothing's worked.

Hopefully the next update fixes the sound issue~ Thanks !

Did not do anything at all to the sound.

I think it was always this way: Pokemon games use some really strange audio tricks in their intro sounds, something VGBAnext can't quite emulate. These few intro sounds are a very rare exception though.

Hello

I'm also having the same issues with Yu-Gi-Oh! games. I'm using the Samsung Galaxy S10 however.  I've tried the suggestions that are on http://fms.komkon.org/EmuAndroid/#SoundLags
But none seem to work or it ends up making it worse. It's either sound lag, glitchy sound effects, or no sound depending on the settings that are fiddled around with.
For Pokemon Red I've noticed the same issues as the with certain sound effects as well.  Other than that it's fine. NES games there's no problems.
Will these sound issues be addressed in the next update?

Yu-Gi-Oh is GBA though, while Pokemon Yellow is GB, right? Because these are two different sound hardware architectures.

I will certainly take a second look at them, but since they have been around for a while, cannot guarantee that they will be fixed by the next update.

Correct. For most of the Yu-Gi-Oh! games that are played in GBA, there's really bad sound lag.
Especially after I tired playing the game stated above, Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters International 2, myself. For that particular game it didn't matter if which eeprom I picked or the latency was 50 to 300. There was sound lag, and what made it worse was noticing it also lagged the game a bit too.

For the Pokemon games that are played in GB. Aside from what was stated about the intro screen, I think it becomes more obvious when you have the player at Lavender Town. It's as if a tone or two is missing while the background music is playing.

Alright sounds good though! Hopefully you're able to figure out what's causing the sound issues. I believe that if this gets resolved, then every other game (GB or GBA) is gonna play audio smoothly. Definitely gonna be a lot of work for you since, as you said, two different architectures.

With that I say, best of luck !
