I placed the ROMs in the folder /sdcard/download/zxroms/ using the
names ZXS48.ROM, ZXS128.ROM, ZXS128TR.ROM, trdos.rom (I couldn't
change the last name to upper case). That folder Speccy shows as empty
so I can't chose a ROM. I use a ZTE Light/V9 with original Android
2.2. I use the current version of Speccy (1.7.2).

The ROMs should be placed into /sdcard/, not into /sdcard/download/
zxroms/.

I moved the ROMs into /sdcard/ and now it starts as ZX Spectrum 128. I
think it would be good if one could have the ROMs in a user selectable
folder because one might want to share ROMs with other emulators in a
simple way. BTW there is a GPL licensed ZX Spectrum ROM: <http://
sourceforge.net/projects/sebasic/>. You could include that from start.
I thought that when you started it one should select ROM from the file-
browser but now I understand one should select a ZX Spectrum program.

I don't have multi-touch since my touch screen is resistive so I can't
use the menu or the Virtual keyboard. Therefore I can't use the
emulator in a meaningful way. One would need to have a shift-lock
button.

Yes, it would obviously be good, and if enough people ask me about it,
I will look into implementing it. Right now though, the /sdcard root
is good enough, at least for me.

Both the menu and the virtual keyboard are perfectly usable without
multitouch, at least on the Android emulator. I will see what can be
done about the modal buttons (shift/control/alt) a bit later.

In order to make the menu stick one has to long-click the MENU-area. I
first thought one should press the MENU-area and at the same time
select from the menu. When I press the MENU-area in ZX Spectrum 48 0:s
are typed (but it also appears).

The MENU-area stops working sometimes and the only cure is to remove
the emulator from RAM and restart it.

BTW the keyboard is on top of the menu.

I agree and think that using a specific folder might be cool... imagine if more programs begin to need files to be put at root... will be a mess!

Thank you very much.

I do not quite understand what menu you are talking about. There are
two menus in Speccy: one is the Android menu, another is the Speccy
builtin menu that shows up when you select "More" from the Android
menu. Which one are you having trouble with? Could you give me the
complete sequence of your actions?

Again, not sure what menu you are talking about.

> BTW the keyboard is on top of the menu.
Yes, the keyboard is supposed to be on top of the Speccy builtin menu:
after all, you need something to type the filenames with.

Unlikely to implement a selectable folder, but I may do something
like /sdcard/Speccy, if that is ok with everybody.

for me is perfect... also for other emulators, specially MSX ;-)

I mean the Speccy-menu you get when you press the text MENU that are
in the upper corners (it's the same menu as when you press More on the
Android menu (Option menu). It's not the same as the ZX Spectrum 128
built in menu.

See above.

I mean it's on top of the Speccy-menu with "Load file" etc you get
when you press the MENU word or the Option menu/More. I didn't know
you could type anything here. Maybe it could be semitransparent.

Ok, got it.

You can invoke Android menu (using dedicated Android button) and
select "More"
from that menu - this way you will still get to the Speccy menu.
Please, let me
know if this method does not work for you either.

I am working on making it transparent, but it will take a bit of time
(there are other problems with it).

You must use the SD root directiry. It doesn't read folders

Hi, I can't play any emulator of the three (Coleco, MSX and Speccy)
The Coleco one doesn't see my game roms, their termination is .col
which I assume is the correct one.
The MSX one recognizes both the game roms and the system roms, i put
the system one's on the sdcard but it just doesn't start.
And the Speccy one doesn't see my system one's at all, but it see's my
game one's, so it won't start.
Any idea?

Nope. Coleco game roms should end in .rom, .cv, .rom.gz, or .cv.gz (in
small letters).

The MSX system ROMs should be placed into /sdcard/fMSX or /sdcard and
called (in big letters):

MSX.ROM MSX2.ROM MSX2EXT.ROM MSX2P.ROM MSX2PEXT.ROM DISK.ROM

These files will not show in the file list when you start fMSX, as
they are system files. Your fMSX program files should end
in .rom, .dsk, .rom.gz, or .dsk.gz (in small letters).

> And the Speccy one doesn't see my system one's at all, but it see's my

The Spectrum system ROMs should be placed into /sdcard/Speccy or /
sdcard and called (in big letters):

ZXS48.ROM ZXS128.ROM ZXS128TR.ROM TRDOS.ROM

These files will not show in the file list when you start Speccy, as
they are system files. Your Speccy program files should end
in .z80, .sna, .dsk, .trd, .scl, .tzx, or .tap (in small letters).

Hope this explains it once and for all.
