After running ati85 from Application manager on the N900, received the
following error:

Unable to download 'ati85'.
Application package not found.

Please not that you do not "run" applications offered by the Maemo
Application Manager. You download and install these applications from
"repositories", using Application Manager. If the repository has got
some problems with connectivity or ongoing index update, you may
receive an error message like the one you have got. In this case, just
retry later.

Having said that, I have just tested downloading the AlmostTI 1.4.1-1
by using the direct link:

http://repository.maemo.org/extras/pool/fremantle/non-free/ati85_1.4.1-1_armel.deb

It worked.

I downloaded the .deb file.

From Application Manager, used Install from file, pointed to the .deb file but was unable to install.
Got the following message:

Unable to install 'AlmostTI Graphing Calc Emulator'.
Incompatible application package.

My guess is that you are installing N900 package on an N810, because
N900 has no "Install from file" option in Application Manager. Please,
use talk.maemo.org to ask for help on how to use Maemo.

Yes there is an 'Install from file' option in Application Manager in Red Pill mode.
And I am using an N900 not N810.

I am not sure how I can help you there: AlmostTI 1.4.1 install
perfectly from the Extras repository on the real N900. It also
installs from command line with "dpkg -i", again, on the real N900. I
have not tried enabling Red Pill mode and installing it via "Install
from file" option, sorry.

I think the error messages you are getting are very clear. Do you
still need them explained?

Yeah but shouldn't all these be available in the app rather than me going to find these ROMs?

Legally? No.

So the default TI83 is legal to use?

Not really, unless you have a physical TI83, but at least it comes
from a model that TI is no longer making money on.
