• When you plan to buy Emu chicks make sure legs should be straight,
it should not be bowed. If you are planning to buy older birds make
sure the backs of the legs should be rough. It should have a sign of
inbreeding is smooth legs.

• Neck should be straight. it should not curved or twisted into
unnatural positions.

• Emu Back should be straight. It is noticed hump-backed bird has
difficulty in breeding, dresses out to less meat and are undesirable
in the genetic pool.

• Toes normal and straight. Note lots of farmers don’t do the clipping
(tying) legs when the eggs hatch.

• Eyes clear and bright. There is not be any kind of infection OR
blindness.

• Responsive and Alert. If you notice them for about 30 mins you would
find how alert they are. We recommend notice them when feed is given
