Dear Developpers,

Sorry to bother... I am installing Spring and I can not launch the EMAN2 package. For instance following the tutorial I tried e2helixboxer.py, here is the errir message:

% e2helixboxer.py

Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/home/christl/spring_v0-82-1339dev/parts/EMAN2/bin/e2helixboxer.py", line 34, in <module>
from EMAN2 import get_image_directory, Transform, Region, EMANVERSION, EMData, E2init, E2end, EMArgumentParser
ImportError: No module named EMAN2

Could you help me? Sorry I am not a good user of Linux...

Thank you in advance.

Dear Manoel,

There are in principle two ways how to run this:
1. If you have Spring and EMAN2 installed separately. You can call
% e2helixboxer.py
This is the most common setup for an EM lab as you may want to keep up with EMAN2's latest developments independent of Spring.

This failed in your case. Therefore the message below is relevant for you:
2. If Spring is your first EM package and you do not have EMAN2 installed separately you can run it by the included EMAN2:
% springenv e2helixboxer.py
Spring uses the underlying EMAN2/Sparx libraries for many EM processing functions.

Best wishes,

Carsten

Dear Manoel,

For the second option I should have been more precise. For that version of EMAN2 you need to specify the micrographs from the command line as well:
% springenv e2helixboxer.py --gui *mrc
or most of other EM format can be read that way too.

Best wishes,

Carsten
