SPRING install issues

Dear Julia,

For any of these issues, can you provide me with the following system details:

% cat /etc/*elease*

I had a look at your log file. It looks like your gcc compilation crashed already. I assume this may have to do with mixing existing libraries on your system from other programs into the Spring installation. This will confuse everything. 

Please re-do the entire setup procedure from the website and unset existing environment variables like:

% unset MPIHOME MPIBIN LIBRARY_PATH LD_LIBRARY_PATH CPATH LD_RUN_PATH DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH PYTHONPATH

Also, we had a problem with the installation of SPRING. I attach the log file. maybe you could help us with the missing file bits/predefs.h. There is not even a folder with the name bits.
