Good to know for those that can't beat the game without game breaking cheats because of a lack of skill. Personnally I'm going to enjoy it to the fullest and the only cheat I'll use is the high speed mode when I need to level up, but I won't use it for Excalibur II, what's the point of a speedrun with a high speed cheat ? ?

Why does it matter how other people play the game? Let them play how they want. You can be proud of yourself for beating the game without cheats if you want, but I'd rather play two games in the time you need for that one game.

I don't see how a high speed mode is a game breaking cheat, so no, it's not hypocritical. The high speed mode isn't going to make me invincible and always deal 9999 damage, it's just a good way to make a game less boring.

And for your information, I'm not even worked up. I don't really care about other people playstyle I'm just sharing my opinion I was just saying that I would have loved a hard platinum for a FF game but it seems that some people didn't appreciate my comment about game breaking cheats

More like a general observation. Just the way you worded it seemed you were worked up about the cheats that's all. You think by Square adding in these cheats and by people using them that people have no skill. Doesn't mean that at all to be honest. Just means people get to play however they want.

Sure it isn't going to make you invincible etc but using it to basically speed leveling is the same as others using the other cheats to get through the game is it not? I agree I'd love it to be a hard FF platinum but that's the hand we've been dealt.

I will be making use of the cheats that don't disable trophies, but I'm disappointed that they are in the game per s. I don't want to spend 5 times the amount of time of someone who used all the cheats to their benefit when in the end we get the same shiny trophy. It makes what would be a nice and challenging trophy list an absolute joke and nullifies any merit whatsoever in putting in the time. Pretty much all FF titles have piss easy trophy lists, and they just had to hold our hands again when it comes to trophies. This babysitting of the players is even championed by some. You are grateful to a company for holding your hand so you can get the shiny trophies anyway. I'd rather they just make an easier list then without cheats. The only cheat I would be perfectly alright with, is the speedhack, but only if the Real Time in game speeds up too just so people can farm levels faster and progress through the story quicker in real time.
What's the point of leveling characters, learning their spells, earning the ultimate weapons when you can do 9999 damage straight from the start? You invite players to be lazy, to not get the full experience and that is probably the most shameful thing of all in this great game. You don't have to, but you enable people anyway and they will do it.

For the record, it does not speed up the real time, in fact to put it into perspective, ALL timers, not just the clock are at normal speed. For example; you can use the speed up and go wild in chocobo hot and cold and the clock will still tick at the standard pace.

The PS4 version has a speed boost, the ability to turn off random encounters, and the ability to have all characters heal and use limit break infinite times. I'm not sure if I'd use all of those all the time, but I want to play the original before playing the remaster. Yes, I've never finished FF7, only ever getting several hours into the PS1 version. My brother, being a huge JRPG fan has the PS1 and PS4 versions as well as the remaster, which means I also have access to all of them, but I'd jump into the PS4 version of the original and use those cheats liberally so I can see each environment and story as quickly as possible.

I know some may see that as sacrilege and robbing oneself of the true experience, but my main goal is just to know what the story and setting of the original are to be able to compare it to the remake. And to be clear, there is no way that I am playing the remake before playing the original. The only unfortunate thing is that my brother is very slow to make his way through the multitude of games he gets because he starts one, buys another, starts that, and then plays a bunch of them on and off. Generally, I don't want to play through a game he bought and wants to finish before I do (that's why I still have never finished Final Fantasy 12!) That means I cannot get far into the remaster once I finish the original.

A final point about me potentially playing through the original FF7, I want to do as much side content as I can, so I'm not merely going through the story. I would just be using the cheats to get through it all. Okay, hopefully, someone has some insight into how long it could take to get through it in such a manner. Thanks.

Without having done it myself or played the game proper in years, I'd wager it could be done in 15-ish hours. I remember my save files typically wrapping up around 50 hours back in my college days, and a lot of the game is wandering around looking for the side quests and getting in random encounters along the way.

Probably 15-20 hrs. The most time consuming thing in the game is chocobo breeding. It's a totally fine way of experiencing the game in 2020, and I think it's kind of necessary to have some point of reference when you do play FF7R.

A word of warning though, the healing cheat wont protect you from 1hit KOs so you'll need to "grind" to level up a little a few spots in the game. I just left encounters on and when ever I got tired of too many battles and needed to get somewhere i turned them off.

I played yesterday and got just outside of Aerith's house. I used all of the cheats; the only one I turned off from time to time was the speed boost, and the infinite limit break as Aerith since her initial limit break only heals her. I think it took two hours. Also, I forgot that they call her Aeris. It threw me off and I said to myself 'wait... that's not her name is it?' I changed her name to Aerith.
