Shelter is a basic human need and, in any survival situation, adequate shelter is a crucial requirement to protect yourself from exposure to the elements. This mostly hands on class covers how to use basic shelter products you can carry in your kit and how to use natural resources you gather from the surrounding landscape to create different types of bushcraft survival shelters. Topics covered also include:

-Tube tent, tarp, and sheet plastic shelters
-Ways to use emergency blankets and ponchos for shelter

The park also features a variety of captive animals such as alligators, black bears, red wolf, Key deer, flamingos, whooping cranes and the oldest hippopotamus in captivity. Reservations for arrival time may be completed online. Once you have entered the park, your visit time is not limited, you may stay on the park grounds until 5pm. Entry fees will be collected at the gate upon arrival.
Maine Wildlife Park does not accept credit or debit card payment for admission. Cash and checks only please. An ATM is available at the admissions gatehouse. The Nature Store does accept debit and credit cards for purchases in the store.
