This is a topic for you to report any problems with any of the technologies.
Part of the purpose of this pilot MOOC is to identify what technologies can be used most easily for CPD and what obstacles are still creating problems and hopefully identify solutions.

I've struggled with access due to being based within a school setting; every site was blocked. and despite efforts to resolve they're still blocked.
Working from home to access now and even then I've been struggling. Had to open IE as Firefox was blocking access as well
Recognise that this can be addressed by a wee bit of additional time on my part but I still find it frustrating when sites aren't compatible with Firefox, particularly as it's open source and I believe we should be supporting that.

First message from Christine Robson

Hi Everyone
I cannot assess Disqus,  It is coming up -  done, but with errors on page

So just wanted to say it was exciting being live and listening to Phil and

Ramore.

Think it will be a good experience using new technology for me, if I can

get it to work

Second message from Christine Robson

Hi Ramone

I am great trouble trying to register with most the sites you wish to use.  My computer pages keeps coming up with error on page.

I enjoyed the introduction broadcast. I think that Councils blocking most sites it is difficult.

regards Christine

Ramone Al Bishawi’s reply to Christine Robson

Hi Christine

I will consult our Education Technology Consultant and Tech Stewards about this to see what can be done.

It is difficult when so many sites are blocked. Since this is an action research project we will be making

recommendation to CLD partners regarding this issue.

I'm sorry you're not getting access to DISQUS it seems from the feedback you give in your previous message

that you were able to access You Tube to see the broadcast, is that right? You're also able to access this forum

so at least you can communicate with us. (I presume your issue is to do when you want to access links to weekly tasks)

I'll see what we can do I'll put this in the Tech Problems thread.

Many thanks

Ramone

Hi Ramone/Christine et al....

I downloaded Google Chrome and now use that instead of internet explorer.  everything seems to work much better :)

Just a bit of feedback on how it's been for me...
- no major problems
- still get a bit confused about the different platforms we are using - this is a memory problem rather than understanding...but maybe folk would appreciate a wee summary of what's happening where.
- I missed the beginning of today's webinar - i was sitting looking at a static Youtube screen on the miniMOOC homepage that said the 2nd webinar would start here in a few minutes but it never did...then I started looking around and found Phil's youtube account and switched on...what should I do to be ready to hear the webinar when it starts (happened OK last week)...it seemed quiet this week and I wonder if others never got beyond the holding screen
- I've adopted the suggestion of having 2 windows open one with the discussion and one with the Youtube and this works well.
Hope that's of some use/sense
Dave

Hi Dave,

Thanks for that. It's probably not that obvious now you mention it. It sounds like you were on the page 15-20mins before we started broadcasting. I think we need put a little prompt on the page to let people know to refresh their browser on the hour and then to click play on the YouTube clip. We could probably add something about opening the YouTube in a new window too.

Cheers,

Phil

Another daft laddie question... just so I understand...  what happens when we use the #SCEminiMOOC tag? Does it make the posting (whether on a blog, FAcebook, etc) appear in the WiKi group or what?

Hi
I have registered with Wordpress and they have sent me a email to verify but they ask to press the button to do this but the button I am unable to see as the Council block images so cannot fully register.

Hi Christine

you might not be able to see a button because of blocked images but can you see a URL (a link) on wordpress?

Hi Phil
This isn't about the MOOC but I'm interested in learning how you've created this from the technical side.  I tried to create a google hangout the other day and the guy I was connecting with could see me but I couldn't see him, there was no sound but the video did upload to youtube.  I created a free wiki but wonder how you've managed to connect this up with google, youtube and disqus.  I'd like to try out a similar process in Edinburgh and would appreciate your advice.  you can email me on: brian.d....@edinburgh.gov.uk
Thanks
brian
