Let's share our strength!

come over, quick, it's an emergency. She's a new first-time mom of a 7
week old baby girl, and has been married for 9 years. Her and her
husband purposely waited a long time to start a family... the time had
finally come and they were thrilled.
When I went over to see what she needed, I walked in and she handed me
a letter. Her husband had sent her a text message from work, telling
her to go check the mail. In the mailbox was this letter, from him. In
it he basically said thanks for the 9 years we had together, and
thanks for the beautiful baby girl, but I'm leaving you for someone
else. She was in shock. I was in shock. Her family was in shock. HIS
family was in shock.
She didn't see it coming. Her whole world turned on a dime, and she
instantly became a single mom.
Many of us have had a similar experience, and many have had a
completely different kind of journey into single motherhood.
Being with my friend over the last few days has been completely
inspiring. I watched her strength as she, while totally devastated,
did what she needed to do. It brought up many reminders of my own
experience which, upon looking back at it, has me amazed at my own
strength.
I know many women who are raising children on their own, and many
others who are in the process of divorce or separation as we speak. I
was inspired today to start this support group because I know that we
have a TON to offer each other and that together we are empowered.
