I am new to the API's but the documentation says you can pass a ticker
value but when I call this API with a ticker it doesn't limit the
record set set and just sends the last 50 buy or sell.

I need to call this because there is a bug on the site where the new
portfolio design doesn't display "Value in your Portfolio" column
value I need when the person you are looking at doesn't also own
shares in you. So I need to call history/shares to calculate those
numbers myself when it's missing.

So do I need to make two API calls? One to history/shares/bought and
one to history/shares/sold to get the total spent on buying shares? If
so that is a huge bummer :(

The documentation is wrong, it never limited by ticker. I'll put this into the list of things to do for API 2.0.

I'll update the documentation and remove the optional ticker param from the docs.

Ok cool no problem. I'll just make the call to both so I can get the
average price per share price bought. It's a bummer that "Value in
your Portfolio" is not display on the page all the time.
