Hello,

I am a new user of the emocode and as you suggested I installed Dataview to code my videos.

However, I am having a little trouble uploading my video into Dataview to start coding.

If you could help me with it, it would be really appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Hi!

Are you getting a specific error? Datavyu has a tutorial here on how to use the media player: https://datavyu.org/user-guide/walkthrough-videos.html

You can open a video file using the "Add Data" button in Datavyu. When you click "Add Data", a window opens which allows you to select both the file and the plugin.  If your computer has multiple plugins, you may need to change it to match the video you are coding.

Hope that helps! Please let me know if you are still running into issues.

Best,
Cat

Hello,

So, I have coded my first video but I have a trouble in converting the file into txt or pdf format because it is in ''.opf'' format.

How do you usually convert it?

If you can help me with this, it would be greatly appreciated

Best regards

Hello,

You can actually convert it right in Datavyu! Just go to File --> Export then select what format you want to export as.  If you are using the emocodes python library to process your codes, you'll need to export to a "cell per row CSV file (*.csv)".

Best,

Hi Zehra,

It looks pretty normal, though there is no data in that screenshot. Did you save your codes before exporting?

The data is a CSV, so it is a text file with each entry separated by a comma.  Excel doesn't always know to use the comma as the delimiter, which is what happened in your screenshot. You can fix this by converting the first column to text with the text import wizard (instructions here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/split-text-into-different-columns-with-the-convert-text-to-columns-wizard-30b14928-5550-41f5-97ca-7a3e9c363ed7). You'll need to check "Comma" for step 4.

Hope that helps!

Best,
Cat

Hello,

Thank you for your reply. When I did what is said in the video, my data looked pretty hectic, that is, I could not make sense of it.

Can you please help with this?

Thanks for your help and time
