Hi,

I've been thinking about this for a while, but I think it would be
really nice to get a 1.0 release of emite-lib out there.

I've been through and tagged a bunch of issues (sorry about it sending
loads of mailing list messages - I didn't realise it was going to do
that!) which I think would be good contenders for the 1.0 release.
There will probably be some extra features and issues which haven't
yet made it to the issue list which would be worth including too.

What does everyone reckon?

Timescale wise I'm thinking towards the latter end of this year.

All input gratefully received! :)

Hello:
I agree with Ash we should (finally) aim for a 1.0 version of (at
least) emite-lib (and probably something similar with hablar).

But I think that, apart of the issues, there are three important
things we should have for this release (maybe I should create issues
for that ones):
1) Full Javadoc for all public classes (I think is almost complete)
2) Updated documentation on project wiki (Its very outdated)
3) A fullly working online demo of Hablar (Currently is not working)

From the selected issues
(http://code.google.com/p/emite/issues/list?can=2&q=Milestone%3DRelease1.0+&colspec=ID+Type+Status+Priority+Milestone+Owner+Summary+Component&cells=tiles):

181 Add support for WebSockets: I don't think this should be in that
release, since this is a big task and currently websockets are not
supported (as far as I know) by any xmpp server (when I added this
issue I thought GAE was going to enable WebSockets for XMPP but
finally was not the case)

Also I was thinking in moving from google code to github (since git is
far better scm than svn).

Any others opinions?

Saludos,
Dani

They all seem eminently sensible ideas, and creating issues to track
all those sounds like the way to go.

I'd have no problems with moving to github - git is nicer than svn,
and it makes sense to move sooner rather than later. Also github
definitely has a cooler vibe about it! Is it possible to carry the
commit history across from svn to the git repository?

I think we should concentrate on getting emite-lib released at the
moment, as it will also be an opportunity to improve the process. Then
we can perhaps look at getting hablar released too!

I think we should also possibly try to incorporate some kind of build
tools again rather than relying on eclipse. Going back to maven2 would
be the obvious choice, and the maven and eclipse plugins have improved
considerably and play a lot nicer together now.

Thanks,
Ash
