Hello:

Some days ago I created a Github organization to host Emite
repositories (https://github.com/organizations/EmiteGWT) but I didn't
move the repos...

Yesterday a spanish student sent me an email saying he forked emite to
fix bugs and set maven again (some of the goals we have)... I think
its a good oportunity to join forces... so:

Do we move to github? - I think we should... you need to register at
github (if not done already) and I will add you to the EmiteGWT
organization...

What do you think?

Saludos,
Dani

Hi Dani,

The move to github sounds like a good idea to me - my github username
is ashward.

Also, as I said in a previous post, I think moving back to maven would
be the way forward as the maven-gwt-plugin and eclipse plugins are
much better than they used to be.

It would also be really good to get an idea of what Xose's intentions
with the project. Fixing bugs and moving to maven are great and things
which we would want on the main branch but removing the Suco
compatibility layer would be a real problem at the moment as it would
break hablar and emiteui (unless, I suppose, we move that layer into
the hablar project or into a separate emite-suco project).

How are you fixed for time at the moment, dani? We (Surevine) would be
more than happy to manage the move to github if you would prefer.

I believe there is an option within github to import an existing svn
codebase including all the history which would be what we would want
to do.

Thanks,

Ash

Hi!

I will do the svn import, no problem... But I will need help to move
the issues ;) and docs ;)
I'm going to import emite-lib and hablar... Vicente, is emiteui still
in use? do we move it?

Dani

Do we take this opportunity to rename emite-lib to just emite, or will that
just confuse things?

Thanks,

Ash

Hehe. I'll leave it up to you! The project used to be called just emite when
it was originally mavenised, but then the library part was split out into
emite-lib. I think it would make sense to change it back as it can be a
little confusing at the moment (the project is called emite, but the
codebase called emite is actually well out of date, and the codebase is
actually called emite-lib).

Maybe we could try this to transfer the issues:
https://github.com/cfinke/googlecode2github, otherwise if that fails then
it'll be lots of copy and paste!

Thanks,
Ash

Excellent!

We will need to update the googlecode site with a message to say that we
have moved to github too.

Let me know if you need a hand with anything!

Yeah... I'm trying to import te repo to github... Maybe you can write
and add the message at goglecode, and run the
https://github.com/cfinke/googlecode2github script?

Or whatever you want... Github import is still working (quite time
right now...) I'll keep you informed

I don't think I've got access on the googlecode site to update the html
(either that or I just can't figure out how to do it!)

I'll have a look at running the python import script a bit later this
evening - just got a couple of things to finish at the moment.

Ash :)

I don't use it. I'm using last revisions.

I agree to use maven again, and to rename emite-lib to emite. By the
way, a fork in the same direction seems to me like to build two roads to
the same direction.

Bests,
