Geronimo Stilton is an Italian children's book series written by Elisabetta Dami (though the covers claim they were written by the title character).[1] On older novels, the copyright is issued to a pseudonym "Geronimo Stilton"; this was changed on newer books. The books are intended for readers in the 6- Te lo do io il karate! to 12-year-old age range.


Scholastic Corporation has published the English version of the series in the US since February 2004, and the books are published by Sweet Cherry Publishing in the UK.


The series has sold over 140 million copies worldwide, and with 249 editions it is one of Te lo do io il karate! the best-selling book series ever written.[2] The books have been translated into 38 languages.[3]


In the series, the title character is an anthropomorphic mouse who lives in the fictional New Mouse City on fictional Mouse Island. A best-selling author, Geronimo Stilton[4] works as a journalist and editor for the fictional Te lo do io il karate! newspaper The Rodent's Gazette.


He has a younger sister named
Thea Stilton,[5] a cousin named Trap Stilton,[5] and a favourite nephew, nine-year-old Benjamin Stilton (Ben).[5] Geronimo is a nervous, mild-mannered mouse who would like nothing better than to live a quiet life, but he keeps getting involved in faraway adventures Te lo do io il karate! with Thea, Trap, and Benjamin, and sometimes Aunt Sweetfur. The books are written as though they are autobiographical adventure stories.


Papercutz obtained the rights to publish English translations of the graphic novels of Geronimo Stilton. These retain some of the original names of the characters that were changed in the Te lo do io il karate! storybooks translated by Scholastic. For example, the English translations of the graphic novels by Papercutz continue to use the names "Patty Spring" and "Pandora", while the storybooks by Scholastic changed these names to Petunia Pretty Paws and Bugsy Wugsy, respectively.


The Stiltons are the main protagonist of the series. They Te lo do io il karate! worked at the newspaper company The Rodent's Gazette. They traveled together, sometimes with their friends, or sometimes it's just Geronimo.
They explore, solve mysteries, and get the scoop for the Rodent's Gazette.

Their relationship between the Stiltons and the Stingysnout begins when Samuel's great-grandfather married Geronimo's great-great-grandmother. Like the Stiltons they are good-hearted.


The Thea Sisters are five mouselets and protagonist of Geronimo's spin-off series Thea Stilton book series. They named their group after Thea who sometime teach journalism Te lo do io il karate! at Mouseford Academy. The Thea Sister have adventures around the world or Mouseford Academy.


The Ruby Crew are four mouselets at Mouseford Academy lead by Ruby Flashyfur. They are the rivals of the Thea Sisters.


A school club for boys.


They are the cavemouse versions of the Stiltons. They lived Te lo do io il karate! in a village called Old Mouse City.


The Stiltonord are the miceking version of the Stiltons. They live in a village called Mouseborg of Miceking Island.


The Stiltonix are spacemice
version of the Stiltons. They lived in a spaceship called the MouseStar 1.

There are also audio-cassette and CD versions of the Geronimo Stilton books published by Scholastic Audio Books. There are three stories in the first three collections (1–3, 4–6, 7–9), book 10 is sold by itself, and the remaining books are sold in pairs (11–12, Te lo do io il karate! 13–14, 15–16, 17–18, 20–21, 22 and 24, 25–26). Books 1 through 10 are read by Edward Herrmann. Books 11–18, 20–22 and 24, and 25–26 are read by Bill Lobley.


An animated series of the same name debuted in Italy on 15 September 2009.[8] The show ran for 78 episodes across Te lo do io il karate! three seasons (26 episodes for each season) with the series finale airing on 28 February 2017.
