In 660, when Silla and Tang attacked simultaneously via land and sea, the Baekje court was thrown into chaos. Silla, originally bordering on borders, might not have known it, but no one expected that Tang would cross the Yellow Sea and invade Baekje, leaving Goguryeo alone, and no one expected that, except for Seongchung, and Silla's army was not the shortest route, but headed northwest to Deokmul Island on the west coast. So it was an attack that was difficult to predict for Baekje because it camouflaged its route as if it were going to attack Goguryeo.
