The exact name is Dangun Wanggeom [14], but it is generally referred to as Dangun. He is also affectionately referred to as the grandfather of Dangun and is a mythological figure who is said to have opened the history of Korea. In other words, it is the progenitor of the Korean people. According to each person's point of view, the interpretation of the so-called Dangun myth varies, but at least since modern times, it is common to interpret the sentences from a realistic point of view rather than the superficial story itself. Dangun is a name and the king's name is Wanggeom. According to Professor Kim Young-ha, Dangun has the same meaning as Tengri in Mongolian mythology, and Wanggeom is similar to Okimi, which means monarch in Japan. However, in Daejonggyo, etc., Dangun is still regarded as the king's name, and the words 1st Dangun 2nd Dangun are used.

In the modern times, Dangun was illuminated as the religious and political ruling monarch of the mighty Gojoseon, led by Shin Chae-ho, and accordingly, the Dangun faith was organized as the great religion of Na-cheol and took charge of nationalist action. Although there are many twists and turns in this Daejonggyo's historical perspective, it was reflected in the early days of the founding of a modern nation and led to the National Foundation Day.

The modern historical community has also seen this as a reflection of the historical beliefs of the transitional period from the Neolithic Age to the Bronze Age in Manchuria in the northern part of the Korean Peninsula. It was interpreted to the extent that the Neolithic society of totemism, which worshiped bears and tigers, was introduced into a Bronze Age group with the belief in heavenly descendants, and after absorbing the tiger and bear groups, they formed the Dangun group, which later developed into Gojoseon.

However, the first time Dangun Wanggeom appears in literature is 《Samgukyusa》, which appeared at the end of the 13th century, and 《Gogi》(古記), a document cited by Ilyeon in 《Samgukyusa》, does not exist.[15] Judging from the fact that 'Seoninwanggeom' is mentioned as the original owner of Pyongyang in 《Samguksagi》 published in 1145, it seems that there was a mythological composition at least in the middle of Goryeo. However, although 'Seonin Wanggeom' is strongly assumed to be 'Dangun', it is not clearly stated that it is Dangun. And since Pyongyang, which must have been the center of Dangun faith after the unification of Shilla in the 7th century, is not managed as a middle ground between Silla and Balhae, it is not even clear what the situation was like, such as the ruins overgrown with weeds. It's not even clear what happened. In 『Samguksagi』, the records of the late Goguryeo period were borrowed from Chinese historians, and some monarchs such as King Jangsu had more records of tribute than records of domestic affairs, so it is not difficult to understand that records of customs do not remain properly. It is after the 13th and 14th centuries, including the time when 《Samgukyusa》 was written, that the entire appearance of the myth, including the name "Dangun", was confirmed.
