However, during his time as a national team player, the Korean national team could not be explained without Hwang Seon-hong, and no player has been active as a built-in striker in the national team for as long as Hwang Seon-hong. In particular, Hwang Seon-hong's great performance in every match between Korea and Japan cannot be missed, and he played a total of 4 matches and scored 5 goals. It is the second highest goal ever against Korea and Japan, following Cha Bum-geun's 6 goals, and he has never lost a match against Japan.[14]
Club teams played in K-League Pohang Steelers (1993-1997), J-League Cerezo Osaka (1998-1999), and Kashiwa Reysol (2000-2002).
After retiring, he worked as a commentator and debuted as a manager at Busan I-Park in 2008, and later played for his parents' team Pohang Steelers (2011-2015), FC Seoul (June 2016-April 30, 2018), and Yanbian Puder (2018). 2019), and served as the manager of Daejeon Hana Citizen (2020).
