File transfers prob

Hello
How does the file transfer feature works with this software? when
someone tries to send me a file i see a popup notification about it
but there's nothing at all in the chat window , I tried to send a
file , nothing shows up then either only now none of the messages i
write get sent and even rebooting doesn't help

my OS is Ubuntu 11.10, emesene version 2.11.7

Have u tried a sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade? I Think this week they released an update for the package for those who use the ppa version :D (I'm just guessing you are using ppa and not the distribution packaged version)

I"m using whichever came in the Ubuntu Software center, what's the ppa
addy and is there a newer version there?
meanwhile i discovered that for some reason i am able to send messages
under a different linux account but I still have no idea how the file
transfer works here so I'll appreciate it if anyone could help with
that issue

Well, if you wanna try the ppa version, copy and paste these commands
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:emesene-team/emesene-stable
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install upgrade
