Two asteroids will pass between the moon's orbit and Earth on
Wednesday, NASA said, but neither is expected to strike the planet.

The agency said both objects, which occupy separate orbits and each
measure several yards in diameter, should be able to be seen with
amateur telescopes.

The space rocks were discovered Sunday by the Catalina Sky Survey near
Tucson, Ariz. The Minor Planet Center in Cambridge, Mass., then
concluded that both would pass within the distance of the moon about
three days after their discovery.

An 11-yard-wide (10-meter-wide) near-Earth asteroid from the
undiscovered population of about 50 million would be expected to pass
almost daily within a lunar distance, with one striking Earth's
atmosphere about every 10 years.
