Hey Emery Family,

I'm relatively new to the field of education and would like to know
how does a STEM lesson differ from any other lesson?

Jambo Mr. Norman,

A S.T.E.M. lesson is essentially a project based lesson that
incorporates elements of the acronym. It may take several lessons to
complete the project, obviously, because you are still reading and
writing as well. For example, if one wanted to do a unit on gardens,
one of those lessons could consist of reading about plants native to
this region, or you could research how the Native Americans used them,
what type of soil is conducive to certain types of plants, write an
essay on the benefits of gardening, what do plants need to grow,
etc...Then a culminating project could be planting a Native American
demonstration garden with your class (which we have out back!) A unit
on gardening is something that could extend from pre-k all the way up
and is a perfect correlation to Emery's theme...Life is Everywhere!!!
