SAS Applications Due May 9

If you have an incoming 6th grader who wishes to apply for Emerson
Middle School's SAS (School for Advanced Studies) Program, the
application is available on the school's website at:

DEADLINE: Wednesday, May 9, 2012 (you may submit your application at
any time before this date)

Parents are to complete and return the first page of the application
with the included documents to the school's Student Services Office.
If your child is not state identified as GATE, the teacher
recommendation on the second page must be completed and returned in a
sealed envelope by the teacher to the Student Services Office. PLEASE
ATTACH A RECENT COPY OF THE CST SCORES AS WELL AS A COPY OF YOUR
CHILD’S REPORT CARD.

You will be notified later in May if your child has been accepted into
the SAS program. If your child is accepted into the program and would
like to be in IHP (Individualized Honors Program) for Math and/or
English Arts, they must test into those classes. The IHP classes are
within the SAS program.

IHP placement test for accepted incoming SAS students will take place
on the last Tuesday May, May 29, from 2:00-4:00pm. A make-up test
will take place the 2nd week of school in the Fall.
